This puppy killed a child?

Suuuuure.

" Officials have received several calls about its possible adoption. But Letcher said the family wants the pug back, as well as the two cats. Pending police approval, the animals will be returned to the family. " - Source: Tulsa World

I'm sorry, but I don't think they should get their pets back. And I honestly hope that the Tulsa Animal Shelter feels the same way about it and will refuse to give the pets back. They might have taken good care of their animals, but if you're silly enough to lose a child AND a puppy because you left them alone together for x amount of time, you shouldn't be taking care of any living being but yourself. It's a very foolish and expensive mistake to make. 2 Lives have been lost because the mother and grandmother wanted to sleep in a little longer. Apparently the grandfather was the last to leave the house at 8:30, and the ambulance got called at 10:00. That, to me, suggests that the child was left unattended for those 90 minutes. Alone, with a puppy. *sigh*

I'm thinking a 6 month old pup doesn't have the jaw strength to cause that sort of damage. I generally get pups at 8 weeks, try as they might they can scratch skin, never seen one cause anything close to a deeper puncture wound. Skinny pencil size chew sticks are a workout for an 8 week old pup, and generally at that age they do not stay awake enough to cause any damage of that severity.

A 6 week old pup is going to sleep even more, pups are usually weaned at around 5 weeks of age, that is when the teeth are starting to get a little sharp, and they can start to handle solid food, meaning moistened kibble or soft food.

Sounds like a crock to me, the irresponsible parents are trying to cover something up.

I've had a 6 week old puppy gnawing on me while I was sleeping before, I didn't even wake up right away and when I did, there were a few scratches and spots of blood, but it seems so bizarre that it's even physically possible for a puppy do know enough damage to kill someone. My neighbors puppy attacked a kitten once and the kitten was barely injured, and that's much smaller than a baby.

how old are the parents again?

has anyone seen "trainspotting" film

i know theres no labrador in the film
and i know that this incident is far from
what happend in the film - - i just remeber a
scene there with a dead baby as well...

hope some get my point....

how old are the parents again?

The mother is 17 & the father is 18.

I really think the baby was already dead or close to it before the dog started chewing on it. I'll be interested to see what the autopsy comes up with.

I don't think it was fair that the pup was euthanised because of it. How was he supose to know what was right and wrong at such an early age. It could have easily been trained.

Its the parents fault in my opinion!

no way did that pup do that, abusive people will say anything to get out of being charged for abuse, neglect or even causing death, like said before the police aint stupid but i suppose as sad as it is, they must have had no choice to put the pup to sleep, thats if they ever did ofcourse, he could be somewhere safe until they know for sure what happened. well thats what im hoping and if it was caused by the pup then the pup isnt gunna turn into a nice dog.

That kind of thinking is ridiculous. It's like saying a 4 year old child is going to grow up to be a murderer because he kicked the neighbour's cat. This pup, if he did do it, wasn't thinking unpleasant thoughts while chewing the baby's toes. He was being a pup, satisfying his need to chew and suckle.

I once had a vile conversation (online) with someone who once shot a litter of puppies because they'd killed some kittens. He was convinced that now they were people killers, because they'd gotten the taste of blood. Absolutely ridiculous.

what an horrific thing to happen, oh my god,im stunned at this article, i cant inagine that a pup-especially a labrador would do such a thing. what sort of vile disgusting people would use a puppy to cover up what they have done wrong-well wrong is an understatemnet! thank F*** they have the death penalty over there, and i really hope they burn in hell for what they have done, i feel so sick over this, i have had dogs in the past the largest being two old english sheep dogs, as 8 week old pups, as Tolak said, they dont have the staying power to do this, yes they have a chew, but theres a hell of a lot of diffrence in having a chew and ripping a baby apart, what complete BAS****

rest in peace little one xxxxxxxxxxx

I found an update on this: http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?s=8788990

I knew there had to be more to the story, though I still don't see how a puppy could do as much damage as they are implying. I still think the baby was dead or dying BEFORE the dog got to it, or at the very least there had to be easier access.

My other question is, are they investigating the grandmother as well? Everything seems to be focused on the mother, but the grandmother was in the house as well. Any way you look at it, what a tragic thing for the baby and the puppy to have to go through.

The second warrant asked for blood and hair samples to be taken from Linzy Earles. The affidavit says she "has had history of drug abuse and she was just recently taken off juvenile probation on June 2nd for drug charges."

says it all

I know you may jump on me for this, But your all going on about how vulnerable and week a puppy was, but also think about how week a little baby is. I also agree it cant JUST be the puppies faught in this, and be it the neglect or something the parents actually did to the baby, something else happend. I would understand maybe if it was a doberman, pitbull, rotweiler....But a labradoor? Come on these guys are as soft as nails, even when they do put on a front, they are too cute and end up licking you anyway :D?

this is stupid! a lab killing a baby thats silly talk, a lab is man best friend its the most loyal dog ever and it would never and a puppie could never kill a baby!! and the parents would have been out of the house for a while for the puppie to kill a baby!!!!!
