Week 5 update

I got in the post today:
API Prevent Algae

Still waiting for my EasyCarbo to come, I have also been down to my LPS to collect some stock for the tank
The algae is still present in the tank but I’m not worried about it, Although algae has started to build on the rocks, so on my next maintenance I will take a tooth brush to it.

So for the live stock:

6 Harlequin
4 Cherry Shrimp
1 Assassin Snail
2 otocinclus

Sorry about my poor photography skills lol

Lovely harlequins look good in there. IMO I think the little bit of algae adds character to the rocks (obviously not too much) plus its a nice meal for your snails :)

True, Hopfully my cleaning crew keeps it in check lol

Quick update, I have decided to remove some of the plants from the front left hand side and I will place them at the back behind the rocks. Iv ordered 1x Eleocharis parvula. Reason for this is, Eleocharis parvula is a shorter version of hair grass as I want to keep the rocks visible.

Update 6

So I decided to remove some of the plants from the front left hand side and I will place them at the back behind the rocks. I’ve ordered 1x Eleocharis parvula. Reason for this is, Eleocharis parvula is a shorter version of hair grass as I want to keep the rocks visible, I planted the Eleocharis Parvila today. 2 Days ago I added some API prevent algae, Shortly after I noticed the shrimp acting strange and free swimming around the tank, also the otocinclus was swimming franticly around the tank, so I did a 50% water change and kept checking back on the tank. The shrimp and otocinclus were playing hide and seek and I could not find them! and feared the worst, I found 1 of the shrimp dead  I am still unsure what coursed this, but my guess is it was the API prevent algae even though it says that it's safe to use with live stock. Other than that the tank is going great and filling out nicely, I will be adding more Harlequin and shrimp this week.

I have entered this tank in to the Tank Of The Month comp.
Here's my enter:

Looks good mate, shame about the poor shrimp, I reckon it was the API Algae stuff, its normally advised not to put any kind of chemicals like that in with shrimp. Your getting some real good growth in there even after an algae attack. My dwarf hairgrass is growing so slowly now. It doesnt help that I've had to switch from CO2 to liquid :(
Keep up the good work :good:

What algae was you trying to get rid of? Most planted tank owners never use that algae remover as it removes the same things the plants need.
