My guess is the survior is eating the ones that vanish ;) More pragmatically female frogs do eat males.
The first one to disappear was twice as big as the others, which were all roughly the same size. Plus their skin is toxic, presumably even to their own species. No way they're swallowing each other.

It has been about two months since I lost my second to last Firebelly toad. The one remaining, Boso, is going strong, eating vigorously, and mostly hiding out in his little bark caves waiting for crickets to arrive. Once I see how expensive upcoming doctor appointments become, I might invest in a couple more. We'll see.
