55g Himalayan Foothills Paludarium

New froggies!! The lfs wanted to get rid of these so gave me two for one. One of them is most admirably chunky.

The tank is looking rather good! Note the Himalayan maiden hair fern up top, the rice plants on the right side, and the flashes of red in the aquatic plant growth: those are padamya barbs looking for pellets.

At least one of my badis is alive and well. But one of my frogs has disappeared, and the big one won’t eat. I think they do not approve of the waterfall rebuild. Hopefully I can get it done this evening and get things back to normal.

Well, the big frog disappeared a few days ago, though I'm fairly confident she's still in there. She had pretty much lost interest in food, which is never a good sign. Hopefully she'll turn up. The other two were trying to hide out in the top of the waterfall tonight, but I rousted them out and gave them a cricket each. Their names are Ago and Boso, which are both fun to say and actually mean something. Ago is Nepali for fire, and Boso is Nepali for chubby.

Ago disappeared for several days and I just found him in a little, moss cave he had been hiding out in. I have appointed the Badgerling to make some small, bark caves for them to hide in when the lights are bright. They'll be happier, and so will I because I'll be able to find them. Who knows; perhaps the big female (who disappeared before I could name her) will turn up in one of them.

One question: Have you tried mixing fishes with froggies or will your froggies eat them ?
My froggies are very tiny and almost entirely terrestrial, and my fish are all very fast (and mostly wild-caught). I don't think the fish and frogs are even aware of each other. Ignorance is bliss, and they all live together in harmony. I'll try to get a video of the whole thing one of these days. It's a rather nice setup for both worlds, if I may say so. :)

I discovered a little cave in the moss beside the waterfall where Ago has been hiding out. So I took a walk and found some rounded bits of cottonwood bark which will make tiny caves. Hopefully this will make them happier and less inclined to vanish and worry me.
