55 Us Gallon Reef

More than likely moving it to the pico where I'll have easier access to it and more shallow water to deal with. By all means dont let me sway you away from getting one though, they're beautiful, just frustrating. Another tip is to feed it last, otherwise EVERYTHING will steal from it.

Just went to inspect mine as these are it's prime hours. It's actually doing really well suprisingly. I moved it to a dark corner of the tank and have pretty much ignored it outside of feeding maybe only 3 times a week tops. It's grown a lot and is very open. Definitely moving it to the pico.

On a side note...while I was looking at the sun coral, the foxface tried to attack me. I dunno if I spooked him or what but he scared the crap out of me. He was sleeping and darted out from behind his rock and slammed right into the glass trying to come at my face. His color was weeeird, solid white except for his yellow fins and rather than thrashing them at me he kept them all raised. He swam back and forth and when I backed away he went back into his little nook. Really interesting behavior. Reminds me of my old cobalt cichlid, Brutus.

Alrighty, here are some new pics, tried my best to get a shot of the Lo but you get the idea. Enjoy :)

And yes, my weir box has been cleaned since that pic was taken :D

you know i'm willing to get that you flew over here to texas while i was at work and stole my foxface and took pictures of it in your tank and returned it before i got home lol...

as far as it attacking you, i dunno. they dont usually just attack things like that, they are more defensive then offensive. maybe you were just to ugly and it couldnt stand you? lol jk :p

Hah, he's always running but lastnight he tried to strike back...had I been diving in the tank then I would have been prying him out of my forehead.

Alrighty... FINALLYYYY found some nice xenia frags :) Theyre looking good in the tank too. Also added five green/blue chromis. They add a lot of movement to the tank so Im enjoying them. Think that pretty much wraps up my live stock aside from corals. I only have a few more things I'd like to add in the way of corals and I'm finished :)

No pics yet, been doing some moving around with the rocks.

Big news...I got rid of my condy :p

The Condylactis has gotten too big for me to care to deal with anymore. He takes up atleast a foot of available space where I could stock plenty of great corals. He has really been working on my nerves lately as the tank gets more and more full of organisms that he could easily injure. I think this will be a good move in the long run. I was able to move my zoas to safety after theyve been cramped into a little wedge getting whipped by the torch corals sweepers.

it always sucks when you have to get rid of something, that was like the signature of your tank. but hey, while your loosing one, you will be gaining alot more others and probably some cooler ones as well! i got rid of my condy and urchin for the same reasons lol

Yeah, that'll happen with Coral warfare. Good to see you're removing it now before it kills something :)

To be honest I was hoping something would happen to him or he'd just pack his bags and hit the road on his own one day :p I was getting really sick of it taking up so much space and being so close to my corals. Also it pretty much doubles to cost of feeding since I have to feed it in one sitting, the same amount that I use to feed each one of my corals. I want something huge now though...Im going to try and find the biggest monster of a coral I can find to replace him :)

Added my auto top-off today, so far it seems to be pretty useful, I dont have it setup like I really want it just yet though so it may pump a little too much fresh water in.

Not happy with the surface agitation right now as I've repositioned the powerheads after removing the nem...going to probably add one more in just a bit for the sole purpose of moving the surface. The chromis are great! They school around the Lo constantly and eat leftovers from his pellets and occasional mysis.
