55 Us Gallon Reef

As some of you might know I just recieved a frag of xenia. I'm still waiting to see if it survived shipping or not. Things arent looking so hot so far. We'll see. I'm going to try and get some pics up tonight.

Small update, threw an empty HOB filter on the sump just to add a little flow to the fuge and give some much needed surface agitation. Thinking of adding a light, sand, and caulerpa to it soon.

Looking good chris. By the way I'd add chaeto instead of caulerpa

there is a butt ton of chaeto in the sump.

I'm siiiiick of running this tank fishless. I've treated it twice with kick ich and its been about a month. Heard a lot of people boast about the foxface lo's immune system so I took home the young one at the lfs. Got him a few days. He adapted to the tank quickly and is by far my favorite fish thus far. I've been feeding him garlic formula one marine pellets and butter lettuce. Wish me luck guys, I LOVE this fish!

Yup that's the leather when I first plunked it in there, after that it was glued to the highest point in the tank, it is now in the substrate as it gets a lot more even lighting down there and give room up top for my finger leather. I need to post some new pics for sure. No xenia for now as those deaf kids on ebay are terrible at shipping Theyre supposed to send some new frags AGAIN next week...hope those arrive in one piece.

ehn probably in cola and charleston but that's a few hours away, havnt really had the time to make it over to the coast in a while. Locally there are a few people but they're mostly very old very scary people. One man mentioned some disturbing things to me about birds...i admire his passion for the animals but ew. I've only been able to fine odd balls. There is one guy whom I havnt met though, I get a lot of my frags from him through the lfs. He thinks of soft corals as pests so he only grows a few from what I've heard.

hows your sun coral doing?

i've been thinking about getting one but they seem like a real big pain. i dont mind the feeding everyday part at all.

that thing you built out of the sports bottle to feed them. is the air tube there to squirt food into? how do you get them food in there?

sun coral is doing ok, nothing to be proud of though as this time of the year Im not home enough to feed it daily or even every other. The feeder works good, the tube is for food and I inject it via pipet. My problem is that I cant use the feeder unless the coral is out in the open on the substrate but if I leave it there then it could be bleeched by the lights. It's an awesome coral but it's just too demanding for me lately, hopefully I can take better care of it now that the holiday season is winding down.
