4Ft (286Litre) 'planted' Tank

Dag nabbit, pretty sure the canister died today, just as well i picked up that spare.....will have a play with it and see if i can get it running properly, if not i'll move all the media over to the other one...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Nope...not dead. Blocked intake tube! So it was running dry....thank fully it hadnt been doing that for too long it seems, unblocked and again purring away. A lot to be said for these cheap SunSuns!

Lucky you found that out before the motor brokedown.

Anyway, glad to see, apart from minor mishaps like this which is part and parcel of fishkeeping ;) and all appears to be going smoothly.

Sigh....not sure what i did or what happened but i got some quite unhappy goldies

I decided to pull the plants and decor from the tank to get ready for their rescape, made a mess so did a large waterchange (something i do often) within minutes something very wrong.....Kilda is upside down, all of them producing excess slimecoat and breathing rapidly.....another large water change....triple the declorinator this time around.....so all are looking better, but not Kilda...i've added a bit of salt to the tank, and now just gotta cross my fingers they all make it through, blowed if i know what the devil caused that.....unless i just caught a day the council chlorinated the water supply, very odd.

Sounds unsual to be honest. Could be anything probably, as you mentioned, could have been water supply issues or disturbing the substrate released something that has an affect, could even be mini cycle type thing but very sudden from sounds of it so am doubtful was that.

Hope your guys pull through without any affects, fingers crossed for you ;)

Very very unusual. i've disturbed the substrate many time in this tank, so i dont think thats it, tested the water, no min cycle.............i think it was a new water issue.

All but Kilda have recovered, including all the peppermint BN that are in there. Kilda is hanging in, but i sadly have my doubt he is going to recover :(

With a heavy heart, Kilda did not make it. All the other guys appear to have made a full recovery

Darn.

:(

Hate when that happens.

Sorry for your loss Alasse.

Thanks :( I miss seeing his face when i feed the guys

Now....i hope people dont think me heartless, but i was at the LFS today getting 3 more danios for the 2ft custom and they had some nice looking goldies in (not a common occurance). I hummed and harred, but eventually i bought 2 home with me...

So 2 new goldies joined the crew in here, a gorgeous black oranda, and a red and white ryukin, as yet un-named. I'll do formal intros once i grab some pics of them tonight. Just letting them get acquainted with the other guys

Not fully rescaped as yet, will complete this weekend after a large water change

The goldies are loving the extra swimming room, especially as there are now 7 of them in there lol. The tank is definitely goldie maxed out now

Meet Godric, with Notre peeking out from under him lol

The fish certainly enjoy a water change......they a funny critters. Naturally i have to put my hand in the tank, the whole time the goldies were pecking and pushing me lol I hand feed these guys, so they figure hand = food lol
I have the same problem with my betta, When I put petrified wood in my tank a few days ago I came close to squashing him, Because he wont get out of the way.

As for your tank..... WOW.

Tank and fish are looking absolutely stunning! Notre is so adorable :D

Tomorrow i will be pulling the goldies out into a holding container, wood and plants into a holding tank. All the sand going to get pulled from the tank and fully cleaned. Will be changing the decor a bit (different wood)

If i can find new filter wool, i'll be pulling the canister down and giving it a good clean too......new pic when tis all back together
