4Ft (286Litre) 'planted' Tank

Just finished....once its cleared up i'll post a new pic (major cloudy due to clay fert balls added, and yep i disturbed one while planting lol)

the BN have been moved to a different tank...too small, but it will just have to do until i can get the new 5ft delivered (means water changed every few days)

A few peps will be moved back into the goldie tank, these will be growing out for me to keep as display fish, they can do algae duty whilst doing so :)

Ok cleared enough for an updated pic :)

Very lovely! Is that a cave to the right of the middle?

Not a cave as such, tis a hole in the rock :) Most of them have a hole through them. They were originally from a cichlid tank :)

Stunning as usual Alasse :)

What snail is that?
White /cream coloured shell on sand.

Also can see a net in there too, top left, is that covering something ?

Thats an old apple snail shell, just the shell, no snail.

The net is holding 3 peps and a common that are ready for sale :)

Did a huge water change on the tank today....

Water level dropping, enough water was left just to keep the goldies able to swim in

Nice :)

Always good to see tanks after major waterchanges and tidying up genrally, and the fish always seem more lively and happier.

Nice job Alasse ;)

Thanks Ch4rlie.....

The fish certainly enjoy a water change......they a funny critters. Naturally i have to put my hand in the tank, the whole time the goldies were pecking and pushing me lol I hand feed these guys, so they figure hand = food lol

I took the a sample of the tank water and tested it prior to the water change, remembering this tank had been left for near 2 weeks no maintenance....

PH - 7.4
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 160

This is why 90% weekly water changes are generally done. The high nitrate level would also be because the canister was filthy and would have started to become a nitrate factory itself (all cleaned now though)

****Hoping to have a new inhabitant for the tank in around 3 weeks time, the LFS is trying to source what i am after and they think they have found a supplier, fingers crossed!!!

Nice pic :)

Is that substrate a mix of sand and gravel?

But looking really good ;)

The substrate is pool filter sand, no gravel, only the pebbles added in front of the rocks
