3 Ft Tank But No Lid....could I Use My 2Ft Hood And "modify"?

hey guys,im on the hunt for a 3ft tank, however I cant find "the one" however, I have found many without hoods so my question is could I cut the sides off my 2ft hood to fit the 3ft tank?

You can do anything you want with the hood as long as you're happy with it and it doesn't fall into the tank.

A disadvantage to a hood that is smaller than the tank is the light inside the tank. I run one of my 2 1/2 foot tanks with a 2 foot light strip and there end up being dark corners.
