2nd spawn attempt

Good luck hun!

Maybe it'll take a few attempts for the guys to figure out what to do. ;) If it doesn't work out this time, you could always recondition both pairs and try again in a few weeks. :dunno:
Totally agree with u.......

But things will work out.....

build a nest!!!!!!!

*puts up signs saying "build a nest" all over the tank* c'mon take a hint!!

:S

:D

teehee :D the first spawn is tryign to embrace, the male gtes under the nest, the female swims in an S shape and all, and then just as they were about to get inot the locking poosition the female wiggles out and bites the male on the head

:D i dont' think they have it completely figured it out, but i do think that the male is starting to create something resmebling a nest :D

p.s he must be mad from the bite still, he's constantly chasing her away :D

first spawning pair

- running into problems :/ my male from this spawn doesnt' seem to be capable of building a nest. Not that he desotn' WANT to, he tries nad tries, but he blows these oversized bubbles that he can't get out of his mouth!! picture a betta yawning, and then half a bubble the size of his mouth comes out, but he can't get the other half out and ends up sucking it back in! only one out of 10 bubbles that he tries to blow acutally comes out :( and even then most of htem pop -_-

never realized he had this problem, i just assumed that he asn't much a bubblenester in his own tnak before...

thinking of replacing him with this guy, tell me what you think:

2nd spawning pair

- male hasn't reall worked on the nest. They both just sorta sit around, nothing much to see here

thanks rolln :)

update:

1st spawning pair
4:38pm - male is STILL having a hard time building enough bubbles, female is swimming around him at all times, clamped fins, etc (i think she is ready), but he insists on building the perfect nest first  unfournately that's going to take him years becuase he goes about 3x slower than regulra bettas

2nd spawning pair
4:38pm - nothing, NOTHING NOTHING! no bubblenest, male is sitting in a corner of the nest, female sitting in another corner. This pair is driving me insane!!

well yours kinda sounds like mine, but opposite. the male has a bubblenest and all but the female just swims around, flares, and taunts him...maybe theve embraced and i missed it? lets goo bettas!!!

:D i was just going to pm you and ask how ur spawn was going :D go update ur log right now!

as for the pair..nothing has changed, i ntoiced the male takes about 4 or 5 tries before sucessfully spitting out a big bubble

update:

1st spawning pair

5:25 pm- EMBRACE!!! EMBRACE!!! i caught the pair doing an embrace, didnt' see any eggs ora nything, but it could be a fluke the first few times anywyas. Will leave them alone and see what happens. there's no huge nest becuase the male can't build them fast enough, but hopefully it'll be okay, he'll just have to be a good daddy and pick up all the fallen eggs

2nd spawning pair

5:25pm - nothing  male ha sa staring problem, he continously stares at the nest, female swims in an S shape with clamped fins, but male just stares at the nest...

According tio the MSN the first pair should be embracing....

they are embracing :D unfourantely i can' tsee if there are any eggs falling beucase i covreed it up with a towel :p i asusme that a few hours from now there SHOULD be eggs..(what else could they be doing?) male is struggling to push out huge bubbles in between embraces (he's having problems bu ti think the female was impressed by his dedication )

if only my 2nd spawning pair will do something other htan stare at the nest blankly!!

i was told bubblenest are no big deal when breeding.. even if there are no bubblenests the breed can still be a success

i hope so! but i think the bubblenst is a big plus, i'm just gonan keep my fingres crossed

the 1st spawning pair has stopped embracing for a bit :/

Bubblenests are definetly NOT a must...there have been many succesful spawns without ever a bubble (or so I'm told by several local breeders). I've had a spawn where there wasn't much of a nest when they started, but he built it while they embraced and afterwards, so don't worry. Now that they're embracing you'll have eggs soon. As for the 2nd pair, have you tried turning up the temp? Say to 84F? Sometimes that will get them going.
