2nd spawn attempt

hi everyone as some of you probably know i'm doing my 2nd spawn between 2 pairs, thought i'd keep an online log in case any of you are intersted

Tuesday August 3:

Pair 1 (pink ct x white ct)

9:00pm - released male into spawning tank, female kept in chimmey.
10:45pm - no bubblenest yet to be seen

Pair 2 (blue ct x blue ct)

9:00pm - released male into spawning tank, female kept in chimney.
10:45 - no bubblenest to be seen. Female showing horizontal stripes and clamped fins.

12:00am - fed both females (still in containers) a couple bloodworms, didnt' feed the males at all. Still no bubblenests. Blue ct female lost her horizontal stripes and is looking quite calm adn collected in the chimeny

p.s. am i supposet to feed the feamles?

12:41am - took some bubbles from ano ther male and "implanted" them under the cup hoping that my males will take a hint overnight and build lovely nests going to sleep now

The male next day had bubbles almost all around the east coast

Wednesday, August 3rd

Pink ct x white ct (spawn pair 1 lets say)

12:02pm (noon i woke up lately ) - something unexpected happened! i rolled out of bed and checked up on them, found the feamle OUT of her container, freaked. Got my glasses and looked a litilte harder only to find her flaring at my male and getting chased! not too bad fin-wise (didnt' have a lot of bites). But no bubblenest iether!

Water tempreature has dropped slightly down to 78f, i raised the heater again

blue ct x blue ct (spawn piar 2)

12:00pm - nothing as of yet, no bubblenest other than what i put in last night female not showing any stripes, male's just swimming around like nothing's going on

so, what do you guys think i should do now?

All I could say is this "Patience".

The male will get Hornier ) one way or the other........

update: 2nd spawning pair's male is just...swimming around? he hardly acknolwedges the feamle, who had stress stripes when i first release her, but is now swimming like she owns the place becuase the amle just swims around with her and never flares

maybe he isnt' aware that he's a male? and has a litlte identity probleM?

he's now resting on the bottom of the tank while the feamle swims around

update: 1st spawning pair - male swimmig around, staring at the feamle but not flaring, going under the nest from time to time, but not buildling bubbles!!! grr

p.s. thanks for the luck 55 unfournately i dont' have any more bubbles to transplant

1st spawning pair - released female this time with ME watching them B) male seems to be chasing her around quite a bit, maybe he's one of those last minute bubblenesters?

Maybe it'll take a few attempts for the guys to figure out what to do. If it doesn't work out this time, you could always recondition both pairs and try again in a few weeks.
