2025 MLB

The 2025 regular season is now official with the opening game in Japan between the Dodgers and Cubs.

Personally I think this garbage as they will play a couple of games that actually count and then go back for another week of spring training. I just don't like this even though I'm watching the game.

Well Cleveland started well beating KC 7-4 in 10 innings. Still I feel a little concern in relation to Clase. Until proven otherwise he is still the best closer in the league but in his first appearance he already has a blown save giving up a run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game.

In 2024 Clase had 47 saves to lead the league in saves. He had a 0.62 ERA and only gave up 4 earned runs during the entire regular season. You can't get much better than that but then came the ALCS game against the Yankees where he gave up 2 home runs to kick Cleveland out of the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong as I'm NOT throwing Clase under the buss but he does just not seem the same since giving up the 2 homers in the ALCS. Announcers kept saying he was having a good spring but I really didn't see it as he just seemed hittable. I think the ALCS game with the Yankees may have hurt his confidence. I really think he has to throw again soon and have one of his 9 pitch strike out innings to close to regain his confidence. I KNOW, first game of the season is no time to be concerned but his face just looks wrong when they show close up. I think he may be questioning himself.

Bottom line is that Cleveland came through and won, so a good start to the season. ;)

Why does this seem to be one sided? East Coast, Phillies all the way!… Follow the Birds! Sorry, what can I say! 1-0 as of yesterday…. Just saying…..
LOL! Mayhaps due to your not posting about the Phillies. Only a couple have been posting and, of course, they will post mostly about their team. ;)

If you want your team in the discussion post about them. LOL! (just kidding) but I can bash the Phillies just as well as I can with the Yankees or Red Sox. :)

Bryce came out hot to start the season. Think he's tied now for the most seasons with a homerun on opening day. Never really cared for the Phillies but I used to watch them all the time for Ryan Howard. He was a baller, sad how his career ended the way it did.

Watchiung the Brewers play the Yankees, Bottom of the 3rd 13-3 Yankees who have 7 homers including a Grand Salami by Judge

Even though it is way to early for concern I'm wondering about Cleveland's bullpen. Last year they probably had the best pen in the league but they blew saves in both games so far.

Dodgers so far living up to billing.

Roki's 1st start tonight at home. Hopefully this kid can stay healthy and learn from this talented staff. He has quite an opportunity to learn from guys like Kershaw/Snell/Yamamoto etc at this level and his ceiling is limitless.

Im gonna complain now lol...im so tired of this new era of baseball already. Extra innings runner on 2nd is 💩. Starting pitchers only throwing 5 innings is 💩. 15 second pitch clock is 💩. Only being able to throw over for a pick-off twice or the baserunner is awarded the base is 💩. The records of all your favorite pitchers will never be touched since now most of them only pitch 5 innings. Here's a stat for you, did you know there was only 28 complete games pitched in MLB last year? Broke the record from the 2020 shortened season of 29....

The age of guys like Nolan Ryan, the big unit, schilling, clemens, Cy Young, Gibson, Kofax etc etc are history and it pisses me off.

Roberts almost cost the Dodgers the game last night by pulling Yamamoto in the 5th. He had 10 strikeouts at the end of 5 and his pitch count was at 90. He could have gone at least one more inning and taken some pressure off their depleted bullpen but Roberts genus is at work again. Swear they keep winning despite of this idiot

Any thoughts on the Yankees' "torpedo bats"? I'm up in the air about it but am a little surprised that the league declared them legal. What the bat does is to shift the 'weight' of the bat to where most contact is made. Isn't that pretty much what loaded bats did back in the day? Also it seems to me that it will destroy everything that has been done to make the game quicker such as the pitch timer and only allowing 2 pick-off throws to first along with extra innings starting with a runner on second. If the opening series for the Yankees is any indication we are likely to have many really long games time wise especially when more teams start using them.

As to Cleveland's first series against KC I can't complain as they took two out of three on the road and any time you win a series on the road it is a good series. ;) Still I'm grumbling a bit as they should have swept. I mean in game two they had two blown saves in the same game. With Cleveland's bullpen that just should not happen. Still, only the first series and, historically, hitters tend to be more ready at the start of a season than the pitchers.

I would like to get my paws on a torpedo bat, just to see it up close and feel its weighting. They sound a bit like a bat type that was big in softball at one point. Most hitters didn't have the bat speed to use it well. In baseball, bat speed's central, so it would probably contribute to the shift away from intelligent, interesting play to simply bashing home runs.

Bash and jog baseball's boring compared to great pitching, small ball and strategy, but fans seem to want it.

If they decide to make homeruns count for 7 points, and balls that touch the outfield ball worth 3, we could soon have scores that rival basketball for their numbers.

Dodgers on their way to the first in history undefeated season, after which they will lose in round one of the playoffs, 🥜

Blasphemy!! Although with Roberts at the helm that is entirely possible. He is the only manager in the league that could mess up a wet dream.

@jaylach agree with your sentiment on the torpedo bats. If they're gonna do that they might as well allow aluminum and just be done with it.
