20 Going On 90

Would it be possible to have two 10k bulbs and then one blue and one red?
And where could I get those bulbs?

The "neon tetras" are doing great, I'm feeding them around 2 to 3 times a day and they eat everything they can fit in their mouths.

hey guys whats up

the cardinals are doing fantastic!
i have cut down the feedings to two to three times every other day to allow the tank to take out any buildup of stuff, considering all there is in there is a 20 gallon freshwater filter and maybe 3-4 pounds of rock.
but they are one week in and doing great! i wont be satisfied until the month mark, but by 2 weeks ill be worrying because after that i dont have a safety net anymore, it is my first online fish order after all.

and everyone else is doing good, i need to stock up on water change water so i have enough for weekly changes (im so lazy)
if pictures upload you shall have them, most of it is just my new guys.

also bubble coral is doing meh
i fed it a silverside (tried to, clownfish are evil, so after missing the superbowl trying to fight them off (didnt really care anyway) i gave up and hoped that since half the fish was in its mouth the coral would just eat it) but it freaks me out that it sometimes closes up and mother of mercy i can see its skeleton and it freaks me out, to be fair though i got the coral and it looks better since then (most of the skeleton is covered in fleshy bits so im not too concerned, its just that some parts still arent covered and they have me worried)

im sorry if that last paragraph did not make sense.

now, my goals for these tanks are to:

get a rack or the 20
upgrade lights
double the flow

90 gallon is ok for now, keep all the fish fat and happy and breeding along with the corals
in the future get a nice birdsnest/ stylophora coral and run a test my friend mentioned (explain later)

5.5
crinoid squat lobster
harvest the weird bugs and culture them in my other tanks
get the balls to put my cardinals in there xD

also the mandarin
is scaring the crap out of me
shes so skinny
could she have an illness that makes her not gain weight?
like a fish version of a tapeworm?
because i see her eating but she gains no weight, it scares me.

Those cardinals are sooooooooooooooooooo cute! My goodness you weren't joking when you said they look like a small tetra. Geez. I wonder if I can put them in my 4g with the panda goby? They are about the same size. How many did you get?

Yeah, Mandarins are tricky. I hope she's ok.

Yeah, Mandarins are tricky. I hope she's ok.

they are roughly the same size yes. the ones on divers den always show up in groups of 5, you might be able to find them in a lfs but you will have to have them hold the fish for a month or so because they do not ship well, they have to have time to rest which is seldom given to them. they have been doing very well on 2 feedings every other day, my one worry is that i started to see soe red gills (immediate thought was ammonia) while feeding every day so thats why i cut back.

and i hope so, those things in the last picture im going to try to culture in the 20 then the 90 to see if putting them in will make a difference.

Good to know, thank you.

Well it sucks to say that over th course of the last post I lost a glass cardinal, the mandarin, and the starfish, in that order.
Cardinal was the runt/ one that was acting funny in the beginning.
Mandarin, starvation :/ which I don't know why because I touch anything in the tank and pods fly out.
Starfish, who knows.

Now one of the glass cardinals has a growth on it, it hast affected behavior and is located on the first top fin (sorry for lack of terms) I don't really know what to do with it.
The bangaiis are breeding! Dad has had them for two days so well see.
Also some new corals
And bubble coral got effed up.

Hey guys another update.
Unfortunately the day I found out what the cardinal had (lymphosomething) it died.
What it had was basically a virus, I couldn't do anything about it so it either lived or died. It's not very contagious so the others should/better be fine.

Coral wise here's what I've picked up recently:
Huge pagoda cup coral
Small green/yellow toadstool leather
Porcelin crab for the pico.
Red monti with purple blue polyps
Green bordsnest with purple polyps
Purple tipped frogspawn with green stalks and white stripes at the base

So, finally some color in this tank!

When I said the bubble got effed up I mean the conch decided to flip it over while I was at school, so it got burned pretty badly. Conch got tossed into the 20 and bubble OS getting better, slowly.
Toadstool is in the molting phase so hasn't opened

Daddy bangaii has held on for 4 days!
Last record was two days set by the other cardinals oddly enough.

And my dad gets a bonus this week so after he calculates for taxes and my freshman year in college and some other stuff we can get more stuff.

Lastly, I fell in love.
Forbidden love :/
It's a sargassum / red tailed trigger.
Cutest thing I've ever seen he's adorable.
Lfs people says he's pretty tame, doesn't eat corals or other fish.
should I risk it? I mean with my luck he'll be gone by next week ( even though he's been at the store for 3 months) but if he is still there should I ride the ' varaition between species' train?

Lost another cardinal?
The last two had reasons the only thing I suspected was that one of them last night was not swimming with the other two. But it was fine this morning ugh.
Water change tomorrow since store is closed on tuesdays and then the other two are acting normal so hopefully they do good.
Going to try to get another store nearby to get them in and hold them for a month, or just bide my time and get another group, they are really good fish I've just had horrible luck.
Other than that nothing else has gone bad.

Lost another cardinal WHYYYY
I have one left, going to find a way to get more with out paying excessive shipping.

Anyway, daddy cardinal has been going strong for 19 days, first attempt too!
Silver lining could be that now I have space to put these new fish...and maybe use trading money for new corals or more glass cardinals?

Been looking up data to see when its ok to take them from dad so I don't have to guess a spit date, if I have to guess I'm sure ill lose a majority.

Geez, Gab, but I've done some research on them and they can be finicky. Keep trying.

and to add to the pressure the cardinal has to room up with 15/16 adorable little baby cardinals.

they seem to have a yolk sack (i take its the big yellow thing) so feeding starts tomorrow!

WHAT!!!!!! OMG!!

:good:

But hmmmmm, pictures or it didn't happen. :shifty:

Ok ill find a way to get pictures, they are quite small, my camera cant really focus on them. But I do have some from when they first popped out in the 90.
I actually left them in the breeder in the twenty overnight, and used one of the two broken babies ( one eye drastically smaller than the other) as a test subject to see if red spot cardinal. Would eat them, he just swimmed over and didn't even try to eat it, so I let everyone else go and after that he only took a curious peck and it was done. So, still have all 16! I tried to feed them Cyclopeeze but they didn't want it ( red spot however seemed to be enjoying the new food) I also tried daphnia, nope. So tomorrow I get some cysts and hatch some baby brine. I wonder if they'll eat the tiny pods in the tank?

Ok well this is in need of an update.
First off, babies died, brine culture would not start, which sucks, but parents are trying.
The last redspot died, #40## bristleworms.
Ummmmmm, everything is going good, lots of growth (and I mean alot)
I can't check my past post to see where i was on the stock but I recently acquired a blasto frag, and found a small red coral hitchiker. The majority of my rice are not doing good, and I'm moving them to a secure area in the 90 where they can hopefully recover.
Fish and inverted wise, I got a decorator crab (intended for the pico, but he turned into crabzilla so I moved him to the twenty) and a powder brown tang for the 90.
Powder brown, nicknamed Rudolph, is super cool! He got the name because all the other fish hated him at first, especially female clown, who I had to section off for awhile. But now everybody is ok.
Other then that, sorry about pictures, ill try and get some up after I graduate and get back from Germany. I'll post again tomorrow about anything I missed.
