1st Batch Of Bn's.......so Excited

nice. :) How big are the parents? i got two fully grown male and femlae BN, but they wont spawn, im thinking of putting them in a storage container like u. Did u do anything to get them to spawn?

Cheers Eric :)

Hi and thanks eric

My male bn (the daddy) is about 10cm, and i have 2 females (not sure which is the mum) 1 is almost the same size as the dad and the other is smaller at about 5cm. I also have another male and he is about 10cm as well.

I didn't do anything special to get them to spawn, they have been together in the same tank since a week before christmas, so that is about 3 months. They just needed time i guess.

cheers

Hi all

here are a couple of pics

I've managed to count them all and there are a total of 44 (a couple more than the 25 I thought there was) not bad.

They are in the main tank now and doing fine, just hope I can find homes for them or the pet shop might take them, our daughters boyfriend works at one of the local pet shops and he said his boss will take them. hope so.

Anyway thats all for now

cheers

Hi all
My bn's have finally laid their first batch of eggs. It is only a small batch, but i'm guessing that is quite normal for a first time
My question is
I have a albino red tail shark in the tank as well, will he eat them (probably would if he had the chance) but the prob is i dont really have another tank to put him into.
I bought a breeders net but the eggs are up the far end of a fake ceramic log and are stuck, the log is too heavy and too big for the net.
Would the eggs be ok in a white 20litre bucket with filter and air stone? or should i go and purchase a small glass fish tank, if so what size would be ok?
Any help would be great, im very new at this egg stuff, so i am very unsure of what to do and what is best.

any way, thanks

Just thought of another question.
What is the best thing to feed bn fry, do i need to buy special fry food or will they survive on just cucumber, lettuce and algae wafers etc

you could get a divider heres a pic
