My friend gave me a 1 gallon tank and I want to put a baka shark and one of those sucker-fishes in it. I'll move it out into my other tank when it grows bigger, and I was wondering if I should run a fishless cycle on it? I got my other tank and the fishies in them for free from my uncle and I didn't have to worry about all this... So yea, any suggestions?
Cheers,

i wouldnt put a bala in a tank that small.
the only thing you should put in there is a betta.

one gallon is far to small for a bala they get huge and quickly, they also should be keep in pairs, or groups.

i agree with angel 100%!

Balas grow to extremly large sizes and need to be kept in groups of 3 or more! this means that they can only be kept in very large tank, 90 gallons + ideally.

Maybe you could save up for a bigger tank and get some? they're lovley fish :)

1g tank is a tiny place for a betta, not for a bala shark.
DO NOT do such a thing... :grr:

 people can get relly stupy these days.........i dont think a bala sharks could fit into a 1 gal let alone keep one in it.

Bala sharks do grow quite large and are really unsuitable for a 1 gallon tank. Also the sucker fish (plec?) grow even bigger than the bala's, so that's a no no too. How big is your other tank?

As already stated, the only fish suitable ifor a 1 gallon tanks is a betta (siamese fighting fish).

If you don't want to keep a betta in there, you could have one or two african dwarf frogs, or a few ghost shrimp.

The shape of the bala shark suggests that it is built for speed and open/fast running waters.

yea you could put a bala in a 1g but how long have been keeping it in straight jacket.

Must you make insults? The poster is obviously a novice and asking for advice. Give the advice and move on. No derogatory remarks are needed.

The only thing that will fit in a 1 gallon tank is a betta. Theyre great fish to interact with and Im sure you'll enjoy it as much as a Bala Shark.

Don't worry, doesn't really offend me that these kind of people have access to a computer. No way I'm gonna put a fish that can reach up to 10" in my 1gallon tank.

So OK, I've put my shark into my 70 g, now any suggestions as to what to do with my 1 gallon tank? Thinking of putting a few african dwarf frogs like suggested, so any info on their upkeep and such. I'm googling it now, managed to find quite a bit already...

Do they need any land in their tank or is it alright if it's all water. Actually I've read that all aquatic is alright but I would prefer to go with half water/gravel... So yea, anyone who has ADF's, some help please... Will look around in other threads for any info on it, so yea, to the poster who suggested ADF's, Thanks!!!

Oh yea, can I put any plants in my tank with the frogs? Or will I just have to go with fakes?

Cheers,

Hi. :)

I don't know much about ADF other than the fact that they are cute and need water. lol
But I'm sure if you ask those questions in the invertabrates and Amphibians thread you will get all the information you need. :)
