190 L. Corner Tank

Quick update. Taken 2 mins ago, at the clients' house, after a lovely roast dinner and glass of Cabernet Sauvignon...

The lady was very happy with her surprise.

Looks like you have just done a water change George.

Nice looking tank, but the growth must be phenomenally slow; something I`ll have to get used to one day. I guess you aren`t bothering to target CO2 at 30ppm.

How often do you need to go around to sort this tank out? I have someone who would like me to set a tank up for her, but I would have to be at it every day during the early algae woes. I guess setting up a low light for your friend gives you a lot more time off from the tank and a decent margin for error for him.

Dave.

Ha, ha. Yes, the client did a water change before I came over.

Growth is very slow but as you say, low-maint and low algae risk is the key. There is signs of light deficiency on some of the plants so we're getting some proper reflectors, as the built-in ones are rubbish. Once the plants, especially crypts, have adjusted we'll swap a Power Glo for a Life Glo for nicer rendiiton.

CO2 is 2 BPS, no idea on ppm but there is pearling on the swords and crypts. TNP+ liquid fert is 3ml every day, 1/3 water change per week, all done by the client.

This is the fist time I've seen the tank in over 6 weeks, since initial planting. I'm literally just there for advice now, I don't get my hands wet.

The couple are off to buy there first display fish this weekend (there's otos and baby bristlenose in there now). Neons and a red tail black shark.

We looked through a load of decent 'scapes last night, mostly Iwagumi and NA stuff and they loved them. It's nice to see folk's react so positively to great aquascaping.

Looking good mate. Still, we didn't expect any different! I love the way you've scaped the wood in there.. looks brilliant! If you ever need advice on plants George, just pm me! :D
I bet she's really happy with it! Love the colour blend on it with the green of the plants, brown of the wood and shiny silver of the rocks - looks brilliant! Also, the silicia sand really comes into it's own on a tank like that. Much better than Silver sand.

Thanks Tim.

I'll be sure to come to you for any planting advice, of course... ;)

Glad you like the 'scape. It's still growing in and probably won't peak for around another 4 or 5 months yet. It will look even better with a Life-Glo to reduce the awful purple hue of the 2x Power-Glo.

You can tell Steve that it's going well...

The couple will be coming into your shop this weekend for some fish. Pity you're not in.

Aye. I'll be lapping up the sun on holiday.... in Chester Aquarium!

Anyhoo, you know they'll get sorted out ok. Just spoken to Steve about something else but also mentioned I was looking at your tank! We measured up the relflectors few months ago didn't we? So we know that it's something we stock. Should be able to get you sorted out!

Your Location has changed! You moved into Stamford now? Oh Btw - got some stunnin discus in at the moment, won't be there long though!

PFK pays well! Had Jeremy Gay in the other day. He was setting up 3 tanks for the magazine. We should change our name to the PFK aquatics!
I thought it was december you were moving (or was that when you were setting up the discus tank?) I get confused to easy!

Quick update.

I've not seen the tank since last photos but the client is bursting with pride... Apprarently the plants are growing very well and there's no algae. The fish are very happy too.

I'll try to get some photos tomorrow.

So what do you do exactly? Build tanks for clients? Do you get a lot of customers?

I wish!

No, I just help set up tanks for colleagues etc. I recommend the set up, depending on their taste, budget requirements etc. and help install it all and maintain. Once the tank has establsihed. the client does everything, unless they ask.

I've only had two clients so far. I have another one soon with a very nice set up - 4 foot with 4 x 54w HO T5 luminaire. It will be a much higher-maintenance set up, but they already know their stuff.

Update. Going well.
