148.6L (39.2 gallon) aquarium journal

Yesterday's tetra photoshoot using an iPhone. Much better quality pics than the iPad though.

The cannon pics look great - I think you just need to play with the levels a bit. I took this one into photoshop and altered the levels to bring out the colours, de-speckled it and adjusted the dust and scratches on a separate layer before revealing the sharp image of the tetra with the eraser. Bit quick and dirty as an edit but shows what could be done.

Nice. I don't have photoshop, I might try that one day though. I usually leave the images as is, the dark does pop out a bit for dramatic effect sometimes.

It's been 94 days since the tank was set up: the tank has changed a bit since then. The grassy plant at the back of the driftwood had died, so I will remove it and dispose of it, saving the pot for later use, and the water wisteria's not doing well, but the java fern, floaters and water sprite are doing well. Other than that, the tank and its inhabitants are doing good. Water change will be done this Sunday, following the biweekly schedule.

Everything is okay in the tank at the moment. The new water sprite at the back is still alive, but it's growing slowly. Meanwhile, the ambulia near the heater is growing wildly. Silvertips come up to me for food when I enter the toyroom. Is this recognition of the owner or is it natural for them to do that after being put in a spacious tank for a while?

You are their feeding human, they recognise you.

If you lay the Ambulia along the ground and put some weights on it, the plant will grow into the sand and send up stems along its current stem. It's a quick way to make a wall of plant.

You can use a black plastic bin liner to put on the back of the tank. Just tape it onto the outside.

The tank is doing well currently. The snails aren't taking over the tank yet. I'm still thinking of humanely controlling the snail numbers here. The fish are behaving normally, shoaling together for me. Photo coming soon.
