148.6L (39.2 gallon) aquarium journal

When you download pictures from the camera's memory card, format that card afterwards to make sure the next lot of pictures don't get fragmented when you take them. A lot of people have issues with pictures on cameras when they don't format after every shoot. It's caused by the new pictures not being lined up one after the other on the card and after a few photo shoots the card gets really messy. Then some of the pictures won't download or are broken. Formatting the memory card after each photoshoot keeps the card clean and you have less issues with corrupted pictures.

Ah, good point. I don't have corrupted pictures on my SD card yet. It's something I'll keep an eye on.

I acclimated and added another ambulia into the aquarium to replace the pot of gravel which used to have a water wisteria on it. Photo coming soon.

Here is the tank now after I had added another Ambulia. It might do well like the other one or it might not, we'll see.

You can take cuttings from the Ambulia and plant them elsewhere in the tank. Use a pair of scissors and take cuttings that are about 8-10 inches long.

If you don't want to take cuttings you can lay the plant on the substrate and put some weights on it. The plant will develop roots along the stem that is on the sand and send up branches from that.

You can also just leave it and let it grow. It can reach 4 feet in length but usually stops around 2 to 3 feet.

I did a water change earlier today, but it was later than expected, at 6pm. The water sprite fell out from its pot and floated on the water while Dad was pouring the new water in.

Water Sprite can grow floating or planted. It grows bigger and faster as a floating plant compared to when it's growing in the substrate. I normally leave it growing on the surface and when I get too much I plant some in the gravel.

It's starting to look like an established tank now :)

Why do you have a Kmart photo sign?

Close the cabinet door when you take pictures so they look neater. :)

I have an extra copy of one of my silvertip pictures because that one has a dent on it, the other (without a dent) is framed. It's one of the nicer pics of my fish. We were going to get a single copy of the picture but the KMart printer accidentally printed another copy, and we decided to keep it.

Didn't take pics of the tank today, but here is one from yesterday. I fertilised the tank today and will do a water change tomorrow. I had removed the plantlets of the mother java fern and place them onto the wood in hope that they attach themselves onto it.

You are better off doing a big water change and then adding the fertiliser. If you add fertiliser today and do a water change tomorrow, you get rid of a lot of the fertiliser you put in today. So add the fertiliser after you have done the water change.

I used to do water changes and when I had finished and packed up the hoses, I went around and fertilised each tank.
