1000 Us Gal Project

there maybe a big change taking place in my tank in september

as some of you may or may not know its always been my goal to try my hand at breeding asian arowana

this is not easy as it has never been done outside of asia and getting a sexed pair also takes time

in the past i was told that you need to start off with min 8 asian aros and then they may pair off

i gave the 9 asian aros a go for about 3 years and thought i had a pair but after a few months they started fighting bad so i had to sell one and was left with the one i have now

it takes asian aros about 5 years to become mature at which stage you can see which is male and female

i maybe getting this pair of large asian aros in september if all goes to plan they have been kept together for about 6 months with no fight

i cant wait they are very large

sounds like an amazing project T1 and with having such a big tank something you have to try

Nice mate,

When you say big change i presume you mean your have to get rid of your current Aro, to get the 2 new ones in ? or you planning on getting rid of other fish aswell to make room ?

mmmmmmmmm the aro deal fell throw

why is it that when things go wrong its always that the fish died after they had had them for 5 years with no problems they had a power cut a member of there family is sick or they were in hospital strange that dont you think

it maybe a sign not to mess with things no big deal

i can get another pair but the price is high £2k not sure i want to pay that and they are golds not reds

Wow, I have just read this entire thread (housework left untouched and kids fell asleep on the floor as I took so long but well worth it!) Your tank is fabulous and all the updates are brilliant! I will be keeping track of this one. Your rays are stunning! Fingers crossed on finding some other aros

I've just read through the whole thread and all I can say is wow! The amount of dedication and care that has gone into the tank and its residents is a pleasure to read about.

Makes my wee tank look a bit insignificant now!

thanks for all the kind comments

the new black diamond is doing great and growing like a weed
