yeah but its a tank well worth such a lengthy thread

I do agree :3

wow i forgot about this thread it has truley come one since i last saw it congrats :) good work

the tank should be running for a long time to come

it has gone soooooo fast 3 years old on feb

the tank has aged very well

my aro came up with some mad growth on his head

i would normally have taken the fish out and cut it or try to drain it but the aro is 3ft now so i would need to catch it then drug it with clove oil

big aros like this dont do well being moved to another tank or the stress of being taken out out the tank

when i moved him from my old tank to the new tank 3 years ago he was only 2ft and managed to rip throw a triple skin of 3 koi bags

its been like this for 1 month no and not getting any bigger

hes feeding and acting normal so not rushing into anything just yet

thanks for the offer

but i have 2 good guys who have caught massive carp in ponds but its a bit different to get him out arowana have more power than you can imagine its very easy to brake one of the barbels or even a front peck fin if they brake they never grow back right

the other problem is to make it safe i would need to remove all the cover glasses as if he jumps and smashes one it would go in the substrate and cut the rays to bits
if i remove the cover glasses and jumps at the back i cant reach that far back to reach him

to many risks right now if he stops feeding i make act but its hard this time of year to gage if he stops feeding from the lump or just this time of year as aros feed a lot in the summer and can fast for as long as 6 weeks in the winter so i am tricking him to thinking still summer by keeping the temp at 89

the lump on the aro has been there for about 1 month now and i have turned the temp up to 90 and the lump has started to cave in

aaw is that a good sign or bad? hopefuly good, got any pics of your full tank as it is now, also what are you feeding these guys haha

lol dw about the food i just read your reply to LucyB wow must be a handfull and fun watching them feed

random one for all of you guys, im currently reading page 14, new member and all trying to catch up. you only have water stored or built up if you have a cylinder. most domestic (~houses) have combination boilers which do hot water and your central heating (unless you have solar or live in a massive house that is) the hot water on the combi works on demand so basically not very much (maybe 2Litres depending on your boiler)is stored so we are fine to use it to heat up when doing water changes. as my area of expertee's just thought id add that. Like i said tho, unless the water is stored you should be fine as there is as much copper pipe used on the cold as the hot side !

why risk it rays cant handle cooper

i must live in a massive house

and no need to heat water when doing a water change the cold water simmulates rain fall or a temp drop like they will get in the wild over night

temp in the wild is never constant like most people keep there tanks at it will drop over night or during heavy rain fall

ahhh. must admit, never thought of that. Is it just your personal prefernce on fish to have huge ones and rays or would loads of smaller ones not really work in such a huge tank ?

nearly all the fish in my tank i have had for over 5 years with the longest being over 8 years

people dont understand the size a lot of the fish get to you see for sale in fish shops

i like larger fish as they live longer lifes my rays big tiger fish and aro can live to 25 years cant see many small fish living that long

i try not to buy fish you can flush down the pan when they die but thats just me

i think its just progression in the hobby some people are more than happy to stick with smaller tanks and fish some move on to other things

nothing wrong with the smaller tanks and plants they are just not for me

wow, how muc does it cost to feed every fish daily? how is the aro doing? is the bubble going down?
