I feed twice a day, a pinch of flakes and the same with dry foods and in frozen half a cube, but not all at once lol I was told to miss a day out each week, off feeding a few years back so the fish and empty themselves.

I will syphon it out, don't think its food as I don't put a lot in at once and when feed I will watch the fish to see if eaten the first lot I have put in for them.

Been thinking of getting a Tetratex filter myself,since I have just set up my planted low tec tank, but was told you can't auto turn down the water flow? so if your can't what will be the best for a 25g tank?

I did soak it for 3 weeks just pouring boiling water over it and then soaking in the water I poured in, was told on another thread that boiling would make it crack and crumble? so carbon in and 10 % water changes should do it then :) thank's :good:

I now have a full low tec planted tank, but wood still tanning a bit, so would it be ok to do 10 % water changes to get the tanning down? or weekly changes? Thank you :)

Thank you :) thought know one know about these fish way it was going, but found a good forum that had lots of information about Honey's and now tank set up nicely :) with honeys, neon's, black phantoms, harlequins and bronze corry's and all well up to now :)

Shop just phoned and the plant Subs as come in :good: what good timing :)

Some of my plants came this morning :) but the shop I ordered my pant substrate as not come, said it might be later on today? so If not come in, what will be best way to look after the plants until substrate as come? The plants that have come are anubias and riccia.

Just got told that white vinegar, baking soda and water will make the tank clean and not do any harm? one of the best ways to clean a fish tank.

I will see if anyone else replies, as I not doing it tonight lol done to much today trying to find a tank and taking off the pain! so will clean out tomorrow :) Than I'll be happy when I start my first real planting :)

Thank's for your reply :) I was thinking of dettol, the dettol surface cleanser? that you use for kitchen work tops and and food surfaces ect, as on the bottle it says none bleach, no taint or odour. Would this do the job? and I was told a few years ago about lemon juice, as this is what i use...

Got a 3ft fish tank to day, but it had been painted on 3 sides, but that was easy to take off by a paint scraper :) also the tank was use for sometime for a snake and then stored in garage, so I bit of cleaning. What would the best thing to use to clean the tank and kill off anything that might...

Just phoned every shop in Cumbria and not one as a fish tank, at 3ft wide, 12'' width and 15'' high, if anyone as a tank for sale with these measurements :) can you post a reply please :) I have everything else hood, filter ect. Need the right size to fit hood! apart from the hight :)...

Reading another thread about plants and water changes,say you need to do 50% a week in a full planted take? is this only for people with co2 and using fertilisers etc? and with low tec plants, you only do top ups water changes to get the fish waste etc to turn in to the fertilisers? please can...
