If you cant smell it with the lid shut Id say its more likely to be the water, but seen as Ive never had acryllic I wouldnt like to say for sure. Yeah, I'd say maybe try getting a snail eating loach :) But, the problem is your tank size. A red tailed zebra loach will do the trick and wont grow above 3" :)

I like the look of the bumblebee ones :) They are very nice and the white would stick out against a dark substrate!

Test strips arent very accurate and you'd do much better using a liquid test kit. Theyre quite expensive in stores but if you visit eBay or similar youll find then much cheaper :good:

Im not 100% sure on that but I think the main thing is that its running. Dont think it has any influence on the cycle, but dont just take it from me as there are bound to be people with more experience than me. I ran my filter at full speed for my cycle and it did it within the normal 4-8 week...

I guess thats the downside to those feeder things. Isnt rotting food the cause of ammonia levels rising and nitrites etc.? But still, really sorry to hear about your loss :sad: Hope you can manage to recondition the others and maybe even breed them to try and make up for your loss :good...

Likihood is that some fish waste has been produced and probably has started the cycle, but the test kit is simply to test your water for ammonia and nitrite levels during the process. Unless there has been no food or waste in the tank, which is unlikely, then ammonia is the only real chemical...

That would be a great idea, in fact it should be law :P But our local LFS' just sell people a brand new tank and at the same time they always try to make them buy fish. Its awful. Up until a couple of months back the tanks were in awful condition and so were the fish, but luckily when I went in...

I think the overall look of sand is much better. Stops so much reflection glare off the gravel and you really get to see the true colours of the fish. Good job, looks awesome!

Wow some of the transformations here are crazy! The depth of some of the fish now is incredible compared to when they were nippers! Those fry are doing excellent kribensis! Good job :)
