I just added my fish after 3 months of fishless cycling.

The 2nd day the water has become murky. Will this go away or do I need to do a water change? All other levels have been tested and are fine.

Thanks.

Check the bottom of your tank. You may have some uneaten food there. It is not too unusual for a new fish keeper to overfeed their fish. It takes time to figure out the right amount to feed.

over feeding and do you do enough water changes?

I had this problem with my 5 gallon Koi tank so I went and got a cheap vacuum siphon pipe with adjustable flow rate, did half of the gravel today and there was so much food and waste that came out. I've still got the back half of the gravel to do but I didnt want to stress the two fish out too much, but after that my water went crystal clear but after a few hours its gone slightly cloudy again. So tomorrow I plan to do it again properly and hopefully job done. I'd have to agree with the other about it being food or something. I need to feed them less :)

water changes are very very very very very very important

i agree i thought my 2500
gallon pond wasnt big enough!

If you look in my sig you can see they are 6 months old and are no bigger than 2 or 3 inches. Once it is warmer outside they will go in our 3000 gallon pond, but with all the snow and the amount of huge Koi we have already they'll just get eaten alive! I never planned to have them for their whole lives. I know how big they can get but when I got them they were literally 1 inch long.

extremely sorry and i should have looked
sounds like there going to a great place

Nothing to be sorry about dude :)

Edit: Just noticed that my comment wasnt really aimed at you flyhawk! It was more aimed at drobbyb so its me whos sorry lol!

Drobbyb didnt mean anything by it we get new people on here all the time with similar situations as that who dont have a pond and they think the tank its in will be good enough for the life of the fish. I'm glad to hear that your not one of them. :good:

No I know he didnt mean anything by it, Im here to do the same thing as him and help people out so I appreciate what he was saying. When I said "aimed" I just meant I was replying towards him :)

Like I said its all good. I didnt take it as an attack, I just didnt want people to think I was treating them badly before I had the chance to explain :) Anyway its turned into a hijacking of the topic lol. Sorry :)

just got home and it is all clear now. It must of just needed to settle down after the first day.
