Hi, I bought a 55 gallon All Glass Aquarium kit. I know the lighting on this is not suitable for plants. It comes with two 24 inch hoods and two fixtures. Can I just buy compact flourescent fixtures bulbs for these? If I need a new hood/fixture I'll need to buy one, since I'm really bad at...

Hi, I am purchasing a 55 gallon set up next month, and I want to add some tiger barbs. I also want some kind of pleco, probably a bristlenose. What other tank mates should I add and how many tiger barbs can I have. I want it to be mostly tiger barbs, but i'd prefer another type of fish too...

Hi, i have a 10 gallon set up with 5 harlequins, 4 head and tail light tetras, 1 platy, and 1 small common pleco. It's been running for a while, but I just added the platy a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that my platy keeps slowly swimming to the pleco and nipping on his body near his face...

I bought a bottle of Jungle Ick Guard earlier today. Apparently I have to remove the carbon from my filter. What does that mean? I have a penguin bio-wheel mini which uses filter packets. Also, the instructions say to add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons, and do a 25 percent water change every 24...

Hi. I noticed a few mintues ago that one of my head and tail light tetra's has 3 white dots on his body. Two are on his fin and one is near his face. The spots are as small as a needle point. What is this?

Hi, I just picked up an earthenware pot from a store. It is pretty small. I want to add it to my tank as a cave. How would I go about cleaning it? Just rinsing it with hot tap water?

Hi, I just set up a 2nd 10 gallon tank. I have 5 harlequins and 4 head and tail light tetra's in it. I bought one live plant and buried it (in the pot) into my gravel. I was just wondering if it is necessary to have more, or if it doesn't really matter. I have a few artifical plants also.

The tank is cycled, and i did see the zebras chasing around other fish, but they were chasing the danios also.

Also, i just added 5 zebra danios and 5 harlequins in a 10 gallon tank yesterday. They're the only fish i have in it and will have. I wonder if the zebras killed the fish or if the filter sucked him and caused the damage.

I came home just now and saw my harlequin stuck on the bottom of the filter hose. I put him into a tuperware container. He's still alive, but barely moving and attempts to swim every once in a while. What do i do?

Wow, thanks everyone for your input. I have learned quite a bit. The final set up will be 5 neon's, 2 cories of some sort, and a beta. If the neons nip at the beta then i'll take it out and put it in a smaller tank. :byebye:

After thinking about it for a whole 2 minutes, I think I might go with neons actually. I wanna add something else with the neons. How many do neons can I add while still having from for another kind of fish?

Meh. Neons are boring in my opinion. And yes, I mean't the tank is to small for them. :D
