I came home just now and saw my harlequin stuck on the bottom of the filter hose. I put him into a tuperware container. He's still alive, but barely moving and attempts to swim every once in a while. What do i do?

Also, i just added 5 zebra danios and 5 harlequins in a 10 gallon tank yesterday. They're the only fish i have in it and will have. I wonder if the zebras killed the fish or if the filter sucked him and caused the damage.

filters arent usually strong enough to suck in a healthy fish

IME the only time fish get stuck to the filter i if they are already sick and not strong enough to swim away

have you noticed any imjuries/symptoms on the harlequin? also, if you're not already, you might want to float the tupperware container in the main tank to keep him warm.

it's possible the zebras harrassed it to death as they can be aggressive - watch them and see if they look like they'e being aggressive towartds the others.

I'm afraid I don't know what you can do for him at the moment :dunno:

also I hate to ask this but...is the tank cycled?

The tank is cycled, and i did see the zebras chasing around other fish, but they were chasing the danios also.

You say the tank is cycled, but what are your readings?

Ammonia -
Nitrite -
Nitrate -

It sounds like a few too many fish to add at once in a 10G to me so you could have had a spike.

What else is in the tank other than the 5 Harley's and 5 Zebra's?

Arfie
