Hi. I noticed a few mintues ago that one of my head and tail light tetra's has 3 white dots on his body. Two are on his fin and one is near his face. The spots are as small as a needle point. What is this?

Ich is all I can think of. Do you see it flicking against the gravel or plants a lot?

If it is ich, it will look like salt was sprinkled on the fish.

I had the best luck with Ick Clear Tank Buddies by Jungle. They are tablets you drop in the tank, and they worked pretty fast.

Be sure to follow the instructions, remove the carbon from your filter, and leave the tank lights off.

Yep, definitely ICH. Should I take my sick fish out and put them into like a 2 and a half gallon tank for the time being? It's the only other tank I have.

I noticed 3 small white dots on my discus just then...im not sure whether to start treatment yet as they could be calcium spots :dunno: what should I do? Treat now or wait till morning?
Also if you have any catfish, eg: corys etc only treat at half dose!

Any fish that you notice have it, quarentine as soon as possible and start treating with WS3 or Protozin or something. If you leave them in the tank you run the risk of infecting your entire tank.

Don't take them out. You need to treat the whole tank. The contagious ick is free- swimming in your water. Removing the fish does nothing but add to it's stress.
