Earthenware Pot

Hi, I just picked up an earthenware pot from a store. It is pretty small. I want to add it to my tank as a cave. How would I go about cleaning it? Just rinsing it with hot tap water?

If it is just standard terracotta, then yeah very hot/boiling water will do it.
I had a pot in one of my tanks as a breeding cave, and boiled it for 5 mins before rinsing it in tank water and then putting it in. Never caused any problems, but the bloody fish didn't use it. Ungrateful gits!!

I never boiled mine. All I did was rinse 'em off and toss (well, not "toss".... ) 'em in. Haven't had any problems...

Just boiled it and put it in the tank. All is well so far! Thanks
