Fish All Swimming At The Top

no, but i am wondering if its due to the reduced number of plants to litres of water? The last tank was 240 litres, and had the same plants with the 440l Apart from volume of water (and obvious large amount of water change) nothing else is different apart from their surroundings have got a big...

    4Ft Tank Advice And Location

they are numbered very well........................and growing!! I don't remove spawning fish, rather let nature take its course, however this is not going to always be a great option. I have considered 5ft by relocating onto another wall, however the LFS are selling CLEAIR Deep bow tank for...

Led Lightng. Can It Be Left On?

good point, its a large tank (4ft) and there are only 12 LED's spread into batches of 4 along the centre. Plenty of shade and dark areas, but wanted to create a "in between" period of light from dark to full on light. This way i can still enjoy the tank without having all the lights on, and...

    Moonlight Lights

I just used LED strips that can easily be purchased off ebay and run from a small 12v transformer. I used ones that could be cut into strips of 4, so i could position them around the lid as desired. Only thing i am not sure on is how long they can be left on, as i didn't know if the fish require...

Led Lightng. Can It Be Left On?

Have installed about a dozen or so small white LED's along the centre light of my tank, to try and create a low light effect of an evening, but i just wondered if they can be left on over night or should they be put on a timer like my normal T8's? I was going to make up a system so as the main...

    High Temp Of Fish Tank

can always get the windows to that room solar filmed. Stops up to 80% of heat penetrating the glass by reflecting it out. IE you can have a black leather sofa in the sun and it doesn't absorb the heat it normally would. Stops 99% of UV light too.

Running A Gas Heater In My Fish Room

a digital device IS probably the best. Have seen them over here used for outside pond keeping, Koi's etc due to money involved. Would assume its just like a thermostat that would send a signal (to switch on) and thus open the circuit to the alarm.

    Internal Or External Filters?

cheers Rabbut, seems very little in price diff between the Eheim Ecco and the Tetratec so will take the advice as given and put my hard earned money into something that will last. Internal Or External Filters?

have found an Eheim Ecco Pro 300 local that is good for up to 300 litres, will get one in the morning and see how that performs. I suppose the advatnage is less equipment in the tank so more vision. I assum that these come with everything to install, and distrub less water??? Or do they pump...

    Breeding Livebearers

the biggest problem with ponds is getting the water out, not in. On mylast build (32' X 11' X 6') we found that sinking the filter into the ground level with the pond allows you to bottom drain the water into the filter. This meant that you obviously had to fit a drain but once that was done the...
