Is it ok to have just one angel in a tank. Saw some beautiful platinum angels at lfs.... :fun: If so is it best to go for male or female or does it not matter?

Waterzoo in peterborough is a good fish shop- always given us good advice and great display tank, we alternate between there and the nearest maidenhead aquatics at crowland.

If you have a very high turnover rate ,does it make it difficult for the fishies to swim around? We have qyuite a strong current with our current filter so would it be much stronger with these better filters?

Blimey - I didn't expect people to say I was doing too much cleaning! We are toying with the idea of eventually replacing the filter with an eheim but not sure which one we would get/size we need etc.

As mentioned in my post I swish them in old tank water weekly and give alternate ones a good squeeze weekly-there are 4 sponges so takes 4 weeks for each one to have had a good squeeze...if you see what I mean.

Hello all, I wondered if anyone could advise. We have a 260l planted juwel vision. We have had for oevr 1 year and change water weekly with gravel vac and- swish of filters weekly in old tank water and slightly more vigorous squish of one of filter sponges every couple weeks. All has been well...

Well I've just googled nerite and found a picture of our tiger snails...they are cunningly disguised as zebra nerite snails ! So do they lay eggs on bog wood then...are we going to be parents of five million snails...though admit they are fantastic algae eaters...clean all our leaves much...

Thanks, not cory eggs then as they don't look like that. What on earth is a nerite - I've never heard of that so wouldn't know if my tiger snails were nerites or not !

Noticed lots of eggs scattered over our bog wood today- well I assume they are eggs. Is there any way of knowing who may have laid them? They are 1-2mm white pearls that almost seem embedded in the bog wood and scattered all over them. We have albino bronze corydoras x 4(don't know sex)...

Tigerlssey, What are those fish in your signature - they are beautiful. Are they mature bolivian or german rams? If so how long does it take on average to look like that?

We used sera nematol. Don't have to half dose for scaleless fish but can't use with invertebrates.

After having an outbreak of woms in our tank we now worm all new fish in quarantine. Better safe than sorry.

There are differing opinions on this.Tropicalfishfinder.co.uk say 24-26 for bolivian rams. which would suggest 28 C would be too high.

Was obviously worrying about nothing and being impatient.Swimming around happily today and eating every thing in sight.

Just increased temp to aim for 25. Just looked in tank and found one of them has eaten all his bloodworm but the other one hasn't touched his/hers. Nitrates are lower in main tank as the plants lower it ,so hopefully will be better.

All the info I've read say Bolivian rams don't need to be kept at this high a temp unlike german blue rams.

I've read that Bolivian Rams prefer slightly cooler water and also slightly harder water. I hope this is true as we have just got 2 who are in our quarantine tank. We didn't get the german blue rams as our water isn't suitable. I hope we haven't been misled!

Hello,we used sera nematol (wilders suggestion) and it worked well,2 doses 3 weeks apart with 80 % water change after 48 hours. No probs since. Not safe for inverts though. We used on the whole tank including catfish with no problems.

The sera nematol which you suggested...but just from a different(cheaper source!). As I said it seems to have been effective. He is fattening up every day.

No we bought it from online garden centre for £6.99 per bottle. We treated the whole tank because we decided that must be present in the tank as it had moved from fish to fish. We are redosing as per instructions in 2 weeks. Was definately worth the money as seems to have worked well.

Well we dosed the tank (after removing shrimps and snails) with the sera nematol for internal parasites. We were a bit worried about our plecs/corys as it said they were less tolerant. It seems to have worked. All the fish seem well and the denisons barb who was getting really skinny has now...

If you are concerned about your water quality the best thing would be to test it.
