Hey dudes, I was testing my water today as usual and noticed that the nitrate levels had gone up since I last tested. I know that this is not dangerous to the fish, and I do a 25% water change nearly every week. But I don't know what causes these levels to go up and down - does anyone else...

My girlfriend has taken a real shine to the Siamese fighting fish (becos it looks good!) Before I give in and buy one, has anyone else got one and are they any trouble in your tank? I've currently got 1 dalmation molly, 4 black widows, 4 other tetras 2 cory catfish and a CAE. Cheers

My CAE is smaller than all my other fish (about ----------------- long) and scrubbed my tank clean of algae in 3 days!!! He seems very happy in the tank and doesn't bother the other fish in the slightest. If he does get to be big and aggressive, then I'll just take him back to the shop!

If she is pregnant then it will be a cross breed as we have no other dalmation mollies! She wasn't first in the tank either - the black widows were first. However we did have two dalmation mollies at the beginning and they had a really aggressive fight one evening. We almost separated them...

I've got 2 albino corys as well. Their bellies also have a black line down the middle, but not bulging. I just presumed that this was their guts showing thru their white scales!!

We haven't changed anything recently so can't be that. We have also lost a CAE since then so we are really unsure as to what is going on???? None of our other fish show any symptoms of having anything wrong. This is a strange one to be honest.

My tank had quite a lot of algae in it recently, so I went to my lfs and bought a couple of algae eaters. They've done an amazing job and the tank is now spotless. I am wondering if I should now put them back to the shop as I am scared that they have nothing to eat any more? However I'm also...

This could be nothing to worry about if they are behaving normally other than this. However, if they are lethargic around the tank, you may have high nitrate levels - I'd recommend getting your water tested at your fish shop just to be sure.

I have just noticed that one of my Albino cory catfish has lost its two 'whiskers' on one side of its head! It has been very subdued for a couple of days, and was always sitting at the back of the tank, so I couldn't see anything. But have just seen that these whiskers are missing. The poor...
