Rusty coloured spots in tank????

I have recently noticed a lot of 'rusty' coloured spots on the inside of my tank. Forming on the gravel, ornament and plastic plant. It doesn't seem to be affecting my fish at all, but I am curious as to what might be causing this. I have recently had problems with high Nitrate levels (which the fish managed to survive!) and have therefore been using slightly higher levels of bacteria cycle.

Anyone got any ideas??

I had what I think is the same problem and for me it turned out to be algae. i think that's what it sounds like for your tank.

Yes, its brown algea. You may take out your decorations and scrub them with very hot water. The algea will scrub off. Good Luck!
