I finally unpacked all my fish stuff after moving and have seem to misplaced a couple color charts for my testing kit. The brand is Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. I'm missing the charts for Nitrite and Ammonia. Anyone know where I can get a copy of these for reference? Thanks.

Oh darn. I dunno if I should keep him or not. It's such a beautiful odd looking fish. I'm surprised that it's not a pleco since it sucks to the glass like them. I wonder how he'll do with helping me get rid of some algae.

Just got him (or her). The pet store had em' labeled as an pleco specie but I couldn't find any pleco that looked similar. Was thinking that it could of been a flounder pleco but the fins don't look quite right. Thank you for your help.

Has anyone come across a DIY for converting a plug in air pump to a battery powered air pump?

How long will that UPS keep a charge? I thought UPS only held power for a few minutes, giving you enough time to properly shut down equipment. I would suggest a battery powered air pump.

Bio Spira is too hard to find locally (at least for me). I recommend getting material from a establish tank like gravel, filter material, decorations, etc.

Well I'l replacing the whole thing. The filter is pretty old (2 months plus). Will swishing the filter in the water harm the fishes? Particles getting stuck in the gills etc.

Check the DIY forum for DIY CO2. You can buy the ladder by itself for cheap and use that as a diffusing method. This will save you alot of money since the "refill" packs for the casnister is pretty expensive.

Add the water than re-test. If that doesn't take the level down you'll have to do a water change.

Thanks for the replies but I still haven't gotten the answer that I was looking for. I will probbaly head out today to get a hydrometer. The problem is with the bacteria that was previously cycled in the tank, would the salt kill them off and restart the cycle?

I didn't buy a hydrometer (??) so I don't know the exzact numbers.

I had a cycled tank that I just turn brackish today and added a spotted puffer. I just realized and was wondering- would the salt kill the bacteria? I used 1 tablespoon for every gallon.
