Nope, not recommended. They can leach harmful elements into your tank, I wouldn't advise it. Better off buying it from a shop
:/

no, its going to kill your fish. you can use sand and driftwood that you get from a river though. just dump boiling water over those and they will be good to go

Oh well. Maybe ill skip on driftwood for a while or do dorkhedeos idea.

I posted on your thread concerning Dwarf Puffers. My 10g tank has a piece of driftwood in it that I got from Fort Macon (Alantic Beach). I boiled it for 4 hours, then soaked it in water for a month. It sank after the boil but I wanted to make sure all the tannins were released before I stuck it in the tank.

IDK if i have a pot big enough for the wood though. Maybe ill try that though. Boiling it and such. Thanks for the idea.

You might be able to do it but i'm not advising you too.

Just popping in to say i saw a huge tank with a fantail goldfish and 4 other fish that were about a foot long (goldfish maybe) in a tank which had dead coral, beach sand and driftwood from the sea. This was a big tank and i'm sure the owners frequently did water changes to keep bad stuff from accumulating...
