I guess you could always buy 3 or 4 small red devils and 3-4 small severums and hope they pair off... i really dont see a parrot cichlid ''coming out'' if you know what i mean.. i would imagine youd get some serious weirdos, but who knows.. might be worth a try

    Blood Parrots Hiding Suddenly??

I really don't know. I've heard of parrots becoming shy, but only temporarily, so maybe in a few days they will be o.k. I know some people have had new parrots act shy for awhile, but I'm really not sure about yours. Give them a few days and see if their behavior changes.

    Blood Parrots Hiding Suddenly??

Maybe they think you're going to take them out like you did the oscars? How big is the tank?

    What kind should I get??

Parrot cichlids can be aggressive. They are a cool fish.. Convicts are aggressive and can be kept with parrots usually. Severums are also nice.. Festivums are cool also.

I was told that theory by someone that said they read it in a fish magazine. I don't know why they would do it, I don't know why it hasn't happened more if that IS the way it was done... who knows really

    Breeding

I believe they were made in a dish... I'm sure it wasn't just stick sperm on egg and theres a parrot cichlid.. I'm sure it took them a long time to get to the parrot cichlid.

    Breeding

No, wont give you a parrot fish. I don't know of the best way to do it. Maybe using a divider because of the aggressiveness of a red devil.

    The moving day.

I do see a few cories, did you lose any fish? When I moved, the people didn't leave the house in time, so I had about 20 guppies and a large pleco in like 2 gallons of water for about 48 hours until the morons moved out. Needless to say, I lost some fish. Who needs furnature when you have fish...

    Labidochromis Hongi

Those are cool, I guess they can cross breed with the yellows as they are both Labidochromis? (me = african noob)

    The moving day.

Holy guppy fest haha. Thats cool... I know people that breed guppies in rubbermaid containers lol. Cheapest 'tank' you can find! Have you completed the move yet? I know moving is tough, then add fish to the mix, NO FUN! :alien:

    Fry pics and other things

Haha I totally see that happening, for some reason i have O.C.D over things like that. I'm scared to death to stack rocks higher then maybe 3 levels for some reason. Tank stands too, I always think theyre going to topple over. How can you tell the sexes of your jewel cichlids? Does it have...

    Fry pics and other things

The jewel babies look really neat, good to see the parents are actually taking care of the fry, and making more and more! I have to ask, aren't you scared those rocks are going to fall over and break the glass? I worry about things like that for some reason.

    mixing cichlids

Hmm That's cool. I decided to do some research this time, before I made an impulse buy, was only going to buy 2 of each. They were $8 Each, but I haven't seen big keyholes around here before, and they may not be the best looking keyholes, but they seem healthy. The festivum looked pretty happy...

    mixing cichlids

I have a 40g square tank, and I'm looking for some fish to put in it. I really like Keyhole Cichlids, and Festivum. I can get large Keyholes and small Festivums. I think they're both about the same in aggressiveness, and getting them sized the way I want to do it should be ok. I have other...

    40 gallon stocking

I really don't know how long your cories will last. My convicts would kill 10 cories in 10 minutes easily. I guess your convicts are being nice, but definitely keep an eye on them, things can change in the blink of an eye. Male convicts often don't get along with each other, are they siblings?

i noticed the new fish i bought, in a different tank, also have the weird white stuff forming. its yellow labs, from the same tank at the store as the other ones. so its definately not my waters fault, its the stores. i bought pimafix, and am now treating the 5g with the old africans, and the...

well, i moved the fish into a 5g tank, and theyre doing a lot better. someone told me they think they might have some sort of nemotodes. these weird white things were protruding from the yellows' face and body. when i put them in the 5g they brightened up quite a bit and started actually...

    Keyhole Habitat

    baby fish

i definately wouldnt put the convicts back in with their parents. everytime ive tried that, theyve eaten them. i tried it a few days ago actually, and daddy ate them all. i wouldnt risk it, it might entice them to eat the fry they have now also. i would keep them separate if i were you.

    new to africans

im taking back dead ones. i dont see the point in treating a 55g tank with 8 fish in it. way too much water, will use way too much meds, and will be a pain. there is no fungus yet. theres a white blotch, but its not fungus. im not positive what it is, but its not fungus. i have jungle fungus...

the tank i put them in had been set up forever with fish in it. i took the other fish out yesterday morning, and added the new fish in the evening. the other fish stirred the gravel up a lot when i tried to catch it. there was bacteria everywhere. i really dont know now. the other one died, so i...

i cleaned it in regular water. which killed all of the bacteria. i wanted to start fresh. i thought the tank might have been having some problems. i dont think it was hair algae. it was a whitish color. the fish now have white fuzz on their eyes. the tank is 55g, and there are 10 fish in it. 1...
