I guess you could always buy 3 or 4 small red devils and 3-4 small severums and hope they pair off... i really dont see a parrot cichlid ''coming out'' if you know what i mean.. i would imagine youd get some serious weirdos, but who knows.. might be worth a try

I really don't know. I've heard of parrots becoming shy, but only temporarily, so maybe in a few days they will be o.k. I know some people have had new parrots act shy for awhile, but I'm really not sure about yours. Give them a few days and see if their behavior changes.

Maybe they think you're going to take them out like you did the oscars? How big is the tank?

Parrot cichlids can be aggressive. They are a cool fish.. Convicts are aggressive and can be kept with parrots usually. Severums are also nice.. Festivums are cool also.

I was told that theory by someone that said they read it in a fish magazine. I don't know why they would do it, I don't know why it hasn't happened more if that IS the way it was done... who knows really

I believe they were made in a dish... I'm sure it wasn't just stick sperm on egg and theres a parrot cichlid.. I'm sure it took them a long time to get to the parrot cichlid.

No, wont give you a parrot fish. I don't know of the best way to do it. Maybe using a divider because of the aggressiveness of a red devil.

I do see a few cories, did you lose any fish? When I moved, the people didn't leave the house in time, so I had about 20 guppies and a large pleco in like 2 gallons of water for about 48 hours until the morons moved out. Needless to say, I lost some fish. Who needs furnature when you have fish...

I really don't know how long your cories will last. My convicts would kill 10 cories in 10 minutes easily. I guess your convicts are being nice, but definitely keep an eye on them, things can change in the blink of an eye. Male convicts often don't get along with each other, are they siblings?

i definately wouldnt put the convicts back in with their parents. everytime ive tried that, theyve eaten them. i tried it a few days ago actually, and daddy ate them all. i wouldnt risk it, it might entice them to eat the fry they have now also. i would keep them separate if i were you.
