I had to take my acaras back to LFS this morning as they've been getting too aggressive in my tank and i couldn't keep them :( But i've bought these as a replacement. Im assuming the male is the stripy one, but from the stuff i've read it might not be  Anyone know anything about them? My little male Killi loves them both!

they look like 2 different kinds of killifish, but im not sure. the gold one would be the golden wonder killi, but the striped one i dont know, maybe it is just a female.

The golden one is a golden wonder panchax (Aplocheilus lineatus) and the silver one looks like a sparkling panchax female (Aplocheilus panchax).

Both are great finds!!

They are two different colour morphs of the same species, Aplocheilus lineatus, golden and normal.
Aplocheilus Panchax is a completely different species.

Ok..I'm not a killi expert so BigC is probably right :*) I just thought the striped one looked really similar to Aplocheilus panchax.

:/ Sorry Elisabeth83 I didn't mean to be soo frank.

So... Im confused :/ They're both the same species.. Are they both males? and if so do i need to try and find some females to put in with them? Im definately not an expert when it comes to killies, but i do love them! :D The little male that i have seems to be getting on with both of them fine, he follows them around the tank

Ok.. so, i think from reading that and looking at the pics, that i have 2 different variants of Aplocheilus lineatus but they do seem to be one male (the golden one) and one female( the stripey one as its less colourful!) so that should be ok.. I think -_-

Hard to tell yet. Could just be young or stressed. But I'm guessing female. The rounded anal fin pretty much gives it away. Here is a male and female striped panchax (the colors you find in the wild).

But your golden wonder is definatly a boy. :flex:
