How Do You Know What Goes Where ?

What I do if I get a new coral or am looking at a coral is: -look on liveaqauria....see what they say. -ask the manager at the LFS -look at other peoples tanks that are similiar to myn to see where they place them. trial and error also works, put the coral in one place you think would be...

    My Planned Setup

48x18x24 is 90g basically, if your doing a full reef set up and have a minimum 90 pounds of liverock. divide 90 by 4. that gives you roughly 23-24 inches of fish you can keep. i mean, i prerably enjoy keeping more smaller fish than a couple big ones, but there are plenty of reef safe angels...

    Are These Fish Ok?

Both fish will grow to big for the 55g. If I were you, Since you do not have a lot of liverock (I would recommend buying some more) you should go with a lot of smaller fish. Try going with a lot of smaller nano sized fish. I also like more movement, really a lot of smaller peaceful fish is a...

    Fish Just Dying

2 months of cycling is enough to get you through any cycle. 3-5 months is overkill, that's just cooking your liverock. anyways, can you give us more specs on ur tank? size? pounds of liverock? what type of tank? lighting? filtration? etc etc.?

choosing UV Sterilizer and Protein Skimmers

    Lucky Fish

I work at a fish store and see little crabs/snails/shrimps on corals and liverock all the time. One time I saw like a 20 dollar crab in the middle of soft coral, that customer got a nice surprise ;) I think of it this way, Fish stores are already killing you on the price per pound. Here in...

Photos of the new 25G with new lights

Do not cover the tank, it stops gas exchange which is a critical factor to reefs. The best temporary solution for making sure no fish/snails get out, buy some eggcrate from Home Depot or Lowes (or any home improvement warehouse/store) and cover your tank.

    55 gallon filter

60lbs of liverock and a couple powerheads for biological filtration. sump with a skimmer in it. think about doing a refug in the sump, its just another compartment after the skimmer.

    Need A Powerhead?

put the powerhead on a timer running for like 4 hours a day to switch up the current a bit. that would be cool and not wasting a powerhead.

    BAD wrasse!

6 line wrasse should be added last, they get dominate if they are "first" in the tank, i would try addign some bigger and more mean than him to cool him down or something

    live sand

I would be highly hesitant to using wild sand, The reason is because its a big question mark. You don't want to invest money into equipment, liverock, and corals/fish to learn the reason your tank bombed out is cuz you used sand from your local beach you know.

    live sand

no, i would not. if you live in new york there is probably a fair amount of polution in the sand/water from the water traffic. if you have a problem buying sand for your tank, your going to gasp when you hear about liverock...
  33. B

    Bubbles...should I be excited?

probably just bubbles...sometimes your powerheads or pumps grab some air and shoot it in your tank, air gets trapped under liverock and they float up after a while :P
  34. B

    Pods?

dont purchase them, you will get the moff your liverock and if you have a refugium or just asump you can grow your own over time, you can purchase them. there a GOOD thing btw, you want them in your tank. you need them to keep certain fish. but, you can grow your own in a refugium that is just...
