    White fuzz in tank

Does anyone know how long the time period is between showing symptoms and death with Turberculosis. It seems to fit, but it is moving through my tank really quickly (new deaths every of couple of days)

    White fuzz in tank

3 more casualties this morning... I am using livebearer parasite medicine, but it does not seem to be helping so far. Ideas anyone???

    White fuzz in tank

Hi Wilder, I have been doing 10% water changes daily, however I have not been touching the gravel because the rocks are relatively large and the fry like to hide in the cracks, I have not wanted to crush them by stirring things up. Molly #1 has put himself out of his misery, and now there are...

Is varied foods good for you fish?

My livebearers love freeze dried blood worms and spirula flakes as well.

    Can fish live without......

The only downside of no stones/gravel is that there is less surface area for good cycling bacteria to grow on. All this means is more frequent water changes are required. Many fish breeders and some fish stores do not use gravel at all, as it is easy to clean up the mess fish leave behind.

    White fuzz in tank

So here is the scoop: One of my mollies recently had fry in my 29 gallon and I decided to simply leave them in there. I added some java moss to the tank (which already has some anubias and java fern) and have been feeding the tank with the same food as before (flakes, freeze dried bloodworms...

    Lights

Big Al's Online sells power-compact bulbs that screw into a regular household halogen socket. These are full spectrum bulbs for aquaria. I am in the process of rigging up some sockets to light my tank currently.

    cycling my tank

Hi, Welcome to the forum. While lots of water changes will reduce the chemical levels in your tank in the short term, they actually slow down the cycling process. If all of your fish appear to be healthy, I would try leaving the tank for about a week and then check the levels. There may be...

    Rapid Onset MTS

I never thought I was a fish person... So I won a weird shaped flower vase at my company's Christmas party (about 2 gallons) which I couldn't find a practical use for. I was thinking a gold fish, or one of those cool fighting fish thingies (which I now know are Bettas) would look cool in...

Glass covers for 55 gallon tanks

A hardware store will grind off a glass cover to fit, it is really quite easy, there is a catch though. If the glass has been tempered, you cannot grind or drill it, as it will break. If you are looking for a cheap aquarium cover, and can handle something that is not fancy, a sheet of clear...

    Bio-wheel filter questions

FYI - The intake tube sometimes comes loose from the impler setup, I have had this problem before. It was an easy fix by snapping it back in firmly, although it did take some time and frustration to figure this out.

Think I can fit 2 angels in here?

I have heard of people keeping angels alone before without problems. I don't think they need to be around other angels, howver that may depend on the type.

    Growing Java Fern

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good way to attach a java fern to some bogwood. It would be easiest to just pin the rhizome down with a couple of rocks until it latched on, however I am worrying about crushing it. I was thinking tying it down with fishing line, but that...

    What people food...

I have found that you need to experiment with your specific fish. I have tried to feed my livebearers cucumber and zuchini, prepared various ways, but to no avail. Others on this forum have said that their fish love these vegtables. My mollies seem to like spinach though. If they don't eat...

    Hood Lighting

What type of balasts do you use for these powercompacts, and how do you arrange them over your aquarium? Is this a DIY setup for the balasts as well?

    ahh guppy fry dying!

I would highly recommend a test kit, it is the best 30 dollar investment you can make for your fish, and will last quite a while.

    help please

you need to give us a bunch more info. For starters, what is your water quality, what are you feeding them, and are there any tank mates?

    Feeding vegtables to fish

well, I tried softening the zuchini up with boiling water. It sank right away and this time the fish didn't even try to nip at it. Its seems the myth of zuchini eating mollies does not apply to my tank... -_-

    Feeding vegtables to fish

I am trying to feed zuchini to my mollies, and I cannot get them to eat it. They nibble at the pieces, but do not seem to be able to get them down. Right now I am trying to give it to them fresh and thinly shredded. Does it have to be dried, or what? :/

    can fish hear?

Water is actually a better conductor of sound, and all vibrations than air is. This is why you should not tap on the sides of aquariums, it is actually louder inside that out. If you have ever been underwater in a pool somewhere where there is music being played, take a listen - it is louder...

    Filter Floss

Make sure you rinse the floss before putting it in, after you have cut it. I have found that when I cut floss with scisors that small pieces will come off the edges and be floating around the aquarium.

    Garbo's DIY Fluidised bed filter.

Great post Garbo!!! :) :kewlpics: I have heard that if you place a layer of small particle gravel in the bottom of the filter bed, so that the inlet opening is in the gravel, not the sand, that this increases the flow and makes it easier to start the water flow through the system...

    Letting fry fend for themselves

 Thanks for you input everyone. I definantly want to raise fry at some point, I just really don't have the time right now, and when I do I want to make sure I am properly taking care of them. I am going to setup my tank with a few extra hiding spots and see if any fry survive on their...

    tetras

Plants provide more hidding spaces for fish and generally reduce agressive behaviour, because it allows more passive fish to get out of the way of more agressive fish. This may not nesicarily be your problem, but adding some more plants would not hurt.

    Letting fry fend for themselves

What do you mean by a rock pile?
  31. W

    Background

Number 1, you look like you are going for a natural look with your gravel, rock and plants. If this is so I would go with the green, but really just go with whatever you like best

    Letting fry fend for themselves

I have just started to keep fish, and already one of my mollies is pregnant. I have read the postings on breeding nets, however I don't really want to fool around with one right now. This is my only aquarium, so my plan was to just let the fry fend for themselves. There are plenty of fake...
