Well I decided the issue was with my filter so I bought a new one and set up in the 10 gallon. The new one is cool cause it has 3 filter chambers... The first holds the sponge media to catch all the big junk, the second is customizable to user preference, I can either buy a pouch of carbon...

In re-reading your initial post I do not see where you said how often you do change the water... If the water conditions are cloudy you should be doing at a min, a 10% - 20% water change daily until the cloudy clears up.

It does help really and as long as i'm using the ammo lock i'm really not to overly concerned with the ammonia levels.. I had stopped using the ammolock and lost another fish the other day with visible signs of ammonia poisoning, a second was also showing drastic signs of same.... I again...

I am using ammo lock and have been right along but these dang tanks just won't cycle... It was here on this board that someone told me to get my hands on either media or gravel from an established cycled system to get the tanks to cycle faster. I have to tell you though, for uncycled tanks these...

5 gal tank has been up and running since November and still not cycled with fish... Ammonia is 4.0 all other levels 0 except for 6.2 ph level.. 10 gal has been up since December and still not cycled. Ammonia has been a steady 8+, other levels at 0 with a ph of 7.0 2 gallon has only been set up...

I have obtained gravel from a cycled tank. I have hung it in self made nylong bags in all 3 of my tanks in the path of either the filter current or over the bubble wands.. How long should it be before I start to see a difference in the levels in my tanks. Thanks in advance.

Although I have heard of some that have successfully used tblsalt I would advise against it. Tblsalt contains other incredients besides seasalt that could be detrimental to the fish.

Well I guess it all depends on whether it looks like it could use a good rinsing out...

rinse the media in the old tank water you are going to discard, once a week when you do one of your water changes.... Only replace the media when it gets so bad that rinsing doesn't do the trick no more.

I wonder if that is where I am going wrong.... I add the water to the tank and then immediatly add the declorinator to the tank.... Since I have to add several gallon jugs in most cases to my tank it was easier to do it that way than to try to figure out how much to use for a single gallong...

you don't have to store old tank water. Simply do your water change as you normally would just prior to taking out the filter cartridge and swish your cartridge around in the water a bit to get all the external filtered stuff off of it... Then put the cartridge back and empty the bucket...

I many have to many fish for an uncycled tank, where as I have a right amount if the tank had been cycled.... Unfortunatly, I was not aware of fishless cycling when I got the tank. and hense the fish.
