hi all, could anyone suggest a good broad spectrum parasite medication that is harmless to the filters? i have looked on the net and there appears to be one called "clout" but i don`t think its available in the uk? cheers!

hi... I do about 30% once a week and a major clean once every 3 weeks ie: vac the gravel and clear the algae ect ect. i`ve started a course of "esha 2000" combined with "esha hexamita" so i`m hoping they will cover all angles on both the fungal and parasite fronts. thanks!!

hi all no there`s no digging of the gravel and there`s no outward sign of any aggresion so i think its maybe like you say a sizing each other up ceremony!!! i`ll keep my eye on the situation and with a bit of luck it wont get past the "hand bags at dawn" :) cheers!

i appreciate what you`re saying and yes, discus fish do require specific conditions but what i always find when you research into keeping them (which i did a great deal of) there seems to be this "mystique" surrounding them, not to mention a great deal of snobbery!.

i`ll add my two penneth .... for what its worth.... i`ve have 3 beautifull discus bobbing around in my tank and have been for over 3 years now, i keep them in milton keynes tap water (which i treat) and i`ve had no problems whatsoever! i bought them from a fish shop that had them in a 50/50 mix...

i think its just a case of there`s mild mannered fish and there`s fish with mental health issues, there never seems to be a grey area! and you never know which way its gonna swing till its in your tank. i hate having to return fish even if they have psycopathic tendendcies but i`d sooner have...
