Interesting thread. I have 2 tanks, 1 Mollie and 1 Guppy that I refer to as species only tank. It is interesting to think I could carry it further into a biotope for them even as common as they are. I look forward to others' posts. :)

If this is a mosquito fish, could I also please add to NOT put it in a tank with Guppies! May not even be a good match with Endlers or Platies. Not sure on Mollies or Swords as they are bigger but 1 Mosquito fish female sold to me as a guppy made a quick lunch out of several of my guppies'...

The last drop of molly fry I had we counted over 50. We left them right in the tank and they are also now cllose to 2 months old and we are down to about 8. We are due another drop any day now as I have already found 1 new one in there. These 8 will also be moved on to some friends shortly...

I find it really hard to tell these days with my guppies and mollies. Shape and activity does not apply with them it seems. I too just have to bide my time or take a chance. For example, found a surprise mollie fry in the tank last night. Have yet to see it this morning and so far no others...

So I have lost only one fry so far!  Others are doing well!  They are between 2 and 3 weeks old now and starting to be able to tell male from female a tad.  Excited as I can see what appears to be some males in the group!  Can't wait to see if there are any heart tails!  I have 3 females ready...

Everyone will need to more more stats. Sounds like you have a lot of fish...how big is your tank? I have Mollies and Guppies myself but you have tetras and danios besides. Most of the fry wouldn't stand a chance in a tank with that many fish. It is more than likely either a Mollie or Guppy...

When I have fry in my external filter I use a turkey baster to suck them out. I agree with the suggestions of sponge or nylon over the intake though. Just make sure it is new and rinse it a feew times. If you dump the filter you might not get them all. Hope you get a good number out! :)

I was doing research again today on my two Guppies that have/had heart shaped tails and today out of the blue I find a Medusa Guppy listed under possible tail patterns. When looking at the Google images though, there were only some that had an indent in their tails. And many of the Medusa...
