I've already called the police and there sending a officer out to see the damage.

Apart from that, What can I do? It must have happen last night as I've only found the damage today, It's quite bad damage wise too so I would have noticed it when going to work yesterday morning.

The other issue is am not covered by insurance, Am only third party and without someone to blame I can not claim.

Nothing you can do, mate, unless someone witnessed it, and is prepared to go under oath.

Well that really puts a muffin in the works eh.

Police have been, Took my details and a statement. Said he'll be looking out for any silver cars with no front end.

When I lived in Canada I worked in the traffic division (as staff) and processed accident reports and hit and runs.  Most go nowhere, to be honest.  A regular accident gets assigned an incident number and entered onto the computer... in those cases you usually have the other person's details to match the report with, etc.

For hit and runs it gets investigated, but in most cases, never gets much farther than a report and incident number.  Sometimes, the other person will find their car is damaged and in order to have insurance pay they will make a report claiming the same thing, a hit and run, and if you are lucky and the person handling it pays attention to the details... sometimes 2 and 2 get matched together... but usually... not.  Sorry.

Have an eye out in your own neighborhood for cars with matching damage to their right sides of the right paint color... there is a good chance it is from a neighbor's car or a frequent visitor.  If you see a suspicious vehicle (with damage) write down the plate number and mention it to the police so they can investigate and see if that other person filed a report for their vehicle.

Life is unfair, I didn't expect it to go anywhere. I wanted the police report so when am trading in my car they know that the police knows about it

Doh!! Is all there is to say....

And get fully comp, for fire and theft you may as well not be insured (not that I am advocating not being insured!) as the chance of fire or theft is so much less likely than..well.... someone driving into your car!!

So glad I got my new car yesterday

I only noticed as I was handing old car over to be scrapped that someone had reversed into my car when I was parked on the side of the road at a friends house and cracked my fog lights and dented the car a bit more (barely noticeable amongst the damage already there LOL)

My car got damaged by unknown hit and run recently. I only saw the back of it cracked. It must have been while parked somewhere as otherwise the car is in a garage and I don't remember crashing it. Very annoying...not a hope of finding out who did it....

If there are any security cameras in the area you can ckeck and see if they recording anything that might help. In a low cost, no injury accident without no chance for follow up (ie no suspect information) the police will not go about getting CC footage or really even do much to investigate the case. Sad but true, it's a matter of priority and the actual chance of solving the case.

Nothing really unless you find evidence of who it was. There's been lots of hit and runs here too. But not cars being hit: people. Just ridiculous.... :(

Was just looking at your pics and your mention of the police saying they would be looking for a car....   for some reason it seems more like a truck to me.  Perhaps a smaller pick up truck.  Your car seems to be a good distance off the ground and a lot of the scrape marks are above your bumper.  Just thinking a higher vehicle than yours.  But it is Tuesday.. and raining..  and I'm bored at work.  Hope you find out who did it.  I can't believe they didn't know they hit you.  The security cameras are an awesome idea for your investigation though.
