    Poster For Back Of Aquarium

    The other week I spent about 5 minutes comparing bin bags to get the best deal. Was annoying as sone quoted their size as height x width, some height x diameter, some included litre-age some didnt. Eventually settled for paying 32p more than my normal brand, but due to a special offer I got...

    Overclocking My Pc To The Max

    I knew a guy at uni who literally melted his state of the art Pentium II! At 5GHz though this is the highest end of commercially available pre-overclocked systems I have seen and they are usually packing twin watercooling systems: one exclusive to the cpu, the other to RAM, NB etc. I have seen...

    Tank Size/stocking Dilemas.

    Id personally go for the deeper (front to back) tank, it allows for more decent scaping positions and depth creation.

    I ask this question first because it is an extremely important issue: how are you cooling?

    Leopard Danio?

    Ive got two leopards in my zebra school (9 zebras) and they seem unaware of their particular disposition and are happy in behaviour, pretending they are one of the clan.

    A fantastic read. I have looked at the spiders & scorpions many time in my les (local exotic store?) And whilst I find them intruiging have never felt the desire to buy one yet.

    Where To Get My Plants From? (Uk)

    I have used ebay a few times, could not complain. Edit: thought I would add, I also used java plants for a collection years ago. As long as you dont mind having a complete variation of plants from around the globe in your tank i found them to be good value for money. If you want quality...

    Filter Broke Down. What Now?

    Its better if you can put the airstone under a tube - 1" drainpipe or hosepipe, with some waterflow slots cut into the tube above the stone. The idea is the air rushing up the tube sucks water up with it. You want to put this in the centre of a larger tube e.g. a soda bottle, and fill the inside...

    2 Light Cycles

    I'm about to introduce a light cycle that goes lights off - lights on - even more lights on - some lights off - lights out. Essentially low level <1 wpg for "daytime" racking right up to about 3wpg for high noon impact.

    Help With Using Cfl Bulbs

    FYI i have been looking at increasing the light in my own tank recently and found the following: DIY T5HO is cheap enough to do, until you add waterproof bulb holders. At that stage, might as well spend a few quid more and buy the ready made unit from arcadia or other supplier. LED is ideal...

    If You Have Empty Tanks In The Shed, In The Loft Or Somewhere...

    Right now I have no idea lol. I do know I want it to be a habitat replication of a reasonably fast stream. Subtrate, plants etc. to match probably an Asian location. Filter intake at one end, output at another and a couple of power heads inbetween, forcing the water to travel the length. I...

    Lol how times do change :) You make a valid point though on substrate and filtration. These do impact the type of fish you should stock in your tank.

    Help With Using Cfl Bulbs

    You have many questions and may need to go googling each part and read up a bit. But to get you started: Cfl are usually self contained units that contain an electronic ballast, so its a standard bayonet/screw type holder. So they dont need your existing starter. You do get compact tubes...

    If You Have Empty Tanks In The Shed, In The Loft Or Somewhere...

    I would put a ruddy giant hole in my hallway cupboard wall and sit the tanks flush to the hallway, with access for maintenance in the cupboard. Alas however I dont own the wall, so that 96"x10"x10" will stay empty right now.

    Decisions, Decisions, ==== Help!

    I had 1 in my first tank which was 24"x15" width/depth. This very forum was where it was recommended when I was a beginner and I can say this: For swimming room, 3' is preferred but at 3" long, at worst it has 4x its body length in the shortest swimming direction: I feel this is adequate for a...

    Decisions, Decisions, ==== Help!

    Hi Tony, and welcome! Depending on your filtration, experience & what fish you use, the "rule" can be different. Also depends on who you ask and what documentation you read. For you size of tank, you are likely to stick to smaller, slender fish, no more than 2-3" in size maximum. With this in...

    Lighting Timer

    Its not the voltage, but the power that define their overall cost. For example im looking to push 600W through a single relay, so I am about £8 for one that can do this. But that is just the relay. Im controlling this via usb interface as well so software can monitor the temperature & humidity...

    What Is This?

    Its mineral deposits from your evaporated water coming out of the hole there. Its more excessive due to the proximity of your heater. Either cover the hole (clingfilm?) or move the heater further away. Edit: evaporated is the wrong word, but it is from this process.

    Lighting Timer

    This controls all 4 sockets via one timer, not independently. I am currently building a raspberry pi powered system for my exotic pets, but even that is not cheap. Its really the relays and interfacing that costs the money. For a really cheap solution, get to your local trade electrical...

    Fully Aquatic Newts?

    Fully Aquatic Newts?

    Ax'ls are the only ones that I know of readily available that stay submersed. However, I do not know of any where a mixed tank will definitely work.
