My bgk has also been very timid. Its about 5 inches or so. have him in a 125gal with 5 clown loaches, 1 bn pleco, 1 clown pleco, 6 skirt tetra. Have not had a problem at all and i have had him for a year or so! Eats blood worms out of my hand also. :good:

Edit: decided to to toss it in my goldfish pond abd see if it will quit. Much easier to clean it off out there

Now that i think about it. It was white when it started and that was about a month after i put the wood in. Then about a month later or two later it started looking black

tank has been running for three years now. Soaked it in the big bath tub for three weeks. Used hot water every time i filled it. Branch was dry as a bone when i found it in the woods. Thru and thru. Was a huge branch i cut to size. Think it had been down two summers when i found it this spring...

Good point. Im 5'8" so not too tall either. But have a couple step ladders also. Tank is quite tall so its kinda hard to balance heights out to comfortable both ways..

Its on a concrete floor in my basement so weight shouldnt be an issue.. I think i have decided to go with some boards that measure 5" x 5" for the height and added structure. It will put the top of the tank at 5'1". Good viewing height for sitting since its in our living room in the basement...

+1^ my fish have been through a lot and i have read that the bgk and clowns are very sensitive. They seem to adapt pretty well. When i changed to sand i filled a five gallon bucket just under half way with sand and rinsed it real good while stirring about twenty times. Was rinsed good enough...

The way i look at it is if the filter says its for a fifty gallon tank and thats what i have, i grab one for double my tank volume. Wont work as well for my new 125 gal but i will have 3 filters running on it. Hope that helps! Good luck.

I just picked up a 6ft tank off craigslist. Measures 6x2x18in. Everything looks great! Cant wait to get it all ready to set up. I got it for $150 this morning. Couldnt resist! Heres pics will update with pics as i get it up and going. Will take a bit due to no stand as of yet. :-)
