I currently have one BGK, four clown loaches (getting four more) one bn pleco, one clown pleco, 9 skirted tetra. I had a problem with my chinese algae eater in my 55gal. He was attacking my bgk. Do you think he would do better in the new tank? What else would fit in with my little family? Other than the cae eating the tail off of my bgk they all get along together great. I can rehome the tetras if i have to. Will still have my 20 gal. Any help.is much appreciated!!!

I would be getting a larger shoaling fish to match the clown loaches. What about a group of giant danios or tinfoil barbs? The latter live in the same habitat as the clowns.

WHen those clown loaches grow they will dwarf all your other fish. YOu might try something bigger like tinfoil barbs

Dont they get huge? The tinfoil barbs i mean. Looking at tk1carmans 1000gal the barbs look enormous

They get to be about 6-8 inches, but your clown loaches will still be bigger :)

They get to about a foot each. I think a 5x2x2 or bigger is minimum for a decent group. Maybe better with torpedo barbs? These are an excellent schooling fish and max out around 6-7 inches

My tank is 6'*2'*19" deep is that close enough?

I like the tinfoil barbs a lot but the torpedo barbs would look real nice and i like the size. How many could i have with 8 clowns and a bgk do you think? A shoal of ten or fidteen would look real nice. Too bad i would have to order online like five at a time. Expensive shipping!

Edit:$ 34.99 ea on torpedo barbs. Holy crap! $2.99 ea for tinfoil barbs.

Haha yeah torpedoes are an expensive taste, really worth it if you can get them settled and schooling in a big group. 10-15 would be excellent in that size tank, may need some plant coverage etc, even the big silk plants would do there. As for the Tinfoils that tank is big enough for a group of 6-7 I would say, possibly more depending how that looks and filtration.

It would be about six hundred for fifteen of them. Would have to fishless cycle a new filter on my soon to be empty fifty five so i can buy them all at once to save on shipping. Filtration will be more than covered by the time i add more fish. I have two decent hob filters. One rated for 100 gal tank. The other came with my 55 and a canister filter rated for a 100gal tank. Not sure on gph. Gonna run another pump for circulation also

Any other possibilities? I like the tinfoil barbs but im thinking something more the torpedo size and coloring. Are there any others that would share the same qualities?

Maybe Pink Tailed Chalceus Chalceus macrolepidotus . These are slightly different to what you were asking about, but would look amazing in a decent group in that size tank. As long as you have no plans for any fish below 4 or so inches. You will need at least 6 of these I think though.

Dont Pink Tailed Chalceus get to about 10 inches? Kind of in the same boat as the Tinfoils.

For me your on the right track with your Torpedos, Tinfoils are kind of unmanagable IMO Tikari does a good job but, well look at his resources... An other good one for this tank could be Filament Barbs or Auralis Barbs they are pretty nice :)

Also six hundred for the school!! Where do you get them from!! Most I have seen them at is £25 each which is £375 but that was when they were new to the market you can get them for £12 easily now and I have seen them for £8 before - if your looking at those costs you may as well travel a little further as it will cost less to get the fish you want :)

A group of 6 x 10" fish would be fine in that tank.

True but for me if they are not the main focus of the tank its a lot of space taken up by them. Might have missed the point a little though :/
