YESSS!!!! I know what awesome feeling it is to have a new tank project on the way. Yesterday I bought a 125 gallon 4 foot tank, stand, and filter from craigslist for a steal! I'm so super excited for excited for and I hope you post pictures as it comes along.

Craigslist is great. Have been watching for months. Almost gave up. :) going to build a stand with cinder blocks and 6x6's. Good luck with your new one

The more the better lol I just thought it would be more as my 5 foot is 120 gal
What are your dimentions? I bet yours is a little deeper and shoter length and same height.
Im watching my fish in my 55gal. If they only knew what i have for them :) they will be so happy. But where to get the misses to let me put the 55 back up.... Heh. Guess i should just worry about the big guy for now!!!

Got the tank cleaned up a bit and sprayed the back flat black. Looks good so far. Glad you dont see the runs from the inside!!! :)

Getting exited. My base plans are as follows. Four stacks of cinder blocks, the two on the end being two blocks deep. The other two will be in the center of the tank going lengthwise with the tank. And building a 4x4 base for the tank to sit on. Does that sound like a decent plan? Maybe i will draw it.. Better visual. If you get what i mean please any imput is good. 1500lbs is a lot to hold!!!

My tank is 151x66x51 cm. (100 gal/120 US gal) its a juwel rio 400. got a fluval fx5 running on it, 2x300 watt heaters but soon getting an external heater and I'm using black sand. It's home to my jaguar (being rehomed when big, still very small now) my Texas and my red devil.

I also have a juwel vision 260, running a tetratec ex1200 (just changed from a fluval 406), a 300 watt internal heater and normal play sand. Home to my 2 Rainbow snakeheads (channa bleheri)

A rio 180 with a fluval 406 (used to have an all pond solution 2000) with natural gravel. Home to my 7 inch red belly piranha (did have 5 when they used to be in my 260)

my newest tank is a 40 gall (long) with the all pond solution filter again with sand substrate home to 2 baby Mississippi map turtles :)

Then I have my 100 litre clearseal tank with a fluval 205, 200 watt heater, fake plants and play sand. Home to 2 kribensis, 3 peppered corys and 3 bronze corys (soon to be closing this tank down)

Wow! Sounds like quite the setup you have there. I have to leave the other tanks down once the new one is established. For now at least :) i could have a tank in every room if the misses would allow it! Haha

My mrs just let's me get on with it lol she knows it keeps me quiet. We also have 2 chinchillas, 3 guinea pigs and a small cold water pond (ponds not being used)

Is there a better feeling than when you're getting ready to start in on a project like this? Good luck and have fun with it!!

plans for stocking it at all?
All my fish from the 55 are going. Have 4 clown loaches (adding two or three more) 1 black ghost knife, 9 skirted tetra, 1 bn pleco, 1 clown pleco. I have a cae in another tank. Wondering if he would do better in the bigger tank now. He was kinda pushy and ate the tail off my bgk. Any ideas? What else would fit with my family?? Any ideas appreciated there

Oh its a great feeling. Hopefully will get the 55gal moved so i can start building my base for it. Got all the blocks and 6x6 to put it on. Then it will be all about scaping and filling!!! :) im so freakin exited.

I would try setting up your tank on a platform supported by 3 piers of cinder blocks, oe at each end and one in the middle. Place a sheet of plywood at least 5/8 inches thick on top of the block that matches the outside dimension of your tank. The three stacks should be perfectly equal in height so that the plywood lays perfectly flat with no effort on your part to level it. At that point, get help and get that tank on top of the plywood and well matched to its edges. After all is in place, go ahead and fill the tank. A typical tank is supported mainly by its bottom "trim" and if you give it a flat surface to sit on it will do just fine. Whoever built the stand for my 120 gallon tank had no idea about the strength of materials so it is far too heavy for what it needs to do. It is built of 2x4 lumber held tightly together and sitting side by side on solid wood piers. The darned thing weighs a ton and is not truly flat without me adding a shim under the pier at one end. Your design is superior, if a bit crude.
