yes bolivain rams are classed as dwarf cichlids and dont get very big at all. i would go for 4 as they are much better in a bigger group :good:
i have L200 and L128 in my tank and they are always out and about which is a real bonus as they are stunning plecs. my L309 BN is very rarely seen...
i would 100% go with tetras along side angels. angels dont like bigger fish being boistrous around them which most barbs would be. tetras all the way and as wills said you are much safer adding the rounder disc shaped species. i have a group of rosy tetra in with my angels which can be a bit...

a jet black discus is not a good sign.
firstly did you get all of the fish from the same supplier? were they all from the same tank?
secondly is the black discus being bullied at all by the others or has it always been this way since adding it?
thirdly (is that a word...?) did you test the...
a 3 inch ish gold severum near me would be selling at an lfs for about £5-6. if you sell to the shops then they generally give you 1/3-1/2 of their prices and most will offer store credit not cash unless you get lucky and fins one willing to part with their cash......
so you will be looking at...
the guppies and platies will be safe with angels that not the concern here. as DM stated a taller tank is needed for angels as they will get very tall fiah due to their fin shape.
i personally have always found gouramis to be quite nippy fish and angels are a bit of a big target for any fish...
lip locking can be either a sign of 2 males battling it out for hierachy of the tank or it can a male and female testing each others strength in order to find a good mate.
i wouldnt worry too much about it unless 1 of the acara starts to look a bit battered and nipped. small fin tears and a...
i never knew that. it would be interesting to see a UK based fish pond. keep us informed of any progress.
i was very tempted to try and do a UK based tank but after being told its illegal to collect your own fish i didnt really give it much thought. i never thought that there would be a market...
why noy put the snails in a breeder trap for now?
covering the intake will decrease the flow as you have discovered. the ammonia spike is probably due to the filter not being able to cope due to the poor flow through it.
i think it may get dirty quite fast and need constant cleaning adding another job to fish keeping. also im not sure how good it will look. they will only be 12v so no worries of electricution but the less e;ectric items in water the better for me.
unipac have started to make an all black substrate thats replaced the old limpopo. slightly confusing but it is still limpopo just the new limpopo.... :S
personally i wouldnt like to have lights submerged. how about these? i almost got some of them but didnt for some reason....

wharf have some stunning wild discus in at the minute that are kept in tap water. they are about 5-6 inches and about £70 each.
manchester isnt tha far from there so may be worth a look.
im pretty sure without looking it up that the flying fox has the gold stripe above the black stripe as the pic shows and the black stripe on the SAE has a jagged edge to it and on the FF it looks perfectly straight like in your pic also. i dont think the SAE has any colour in its fins either...
i hope ill be able to keep them for quite a while yet. ive had them since the end of december and they have gone from about 4-5 inch to 7-8.5 inches with the male being the larger of the 2.
i have heard breeders keeping a pair in a 6x2x2 and getting good results but im unsure i would want 2...
ive decided to let 4 of the 8 Leopoldi angels go to give me a bit more tank space as they are growing fast. ive also got 2 more wild angels reserved for me for when i get chance to go fetch them so the angels will be reduced by 2 after getting the wilds. i think 10 still may be pushing it when...
i was looking through a few of your posts and saw the bridged tanks. i remember when you first put the pics of this on here, i take it its still going well with the modification you made? a 4ft tank is a good size for these fish too :good:
the Leopoldi angelfish are reported to be one of the...
ive found another stinger in the tank this morning, i guess this is a good sign of growth. as the male 'Winston' was swimming up and down the glass i managed to measure him at almost 8.5 inches accross which shows how much he has grown since ive had him :hyper:
'Flo' the female is still a bit...
one word "KEITH"
hard as nails when faced with another cichlid but soft as tripe when in with barbs  :/ :S
i do agree with the article though but its not such a bad thing about aggression loss as it does make an easier tank to stock, most of the time....
my wild ornatums i had were...
feed them a quality staple diet of dry products and the occasional treat of meaty foods to balance their diet a bit. mine also nibble on courgette and cucumber :good:
it could go either way tbh. if the parents have protected the eggs and wrigglers then there is a good chance that they will look after the fry. they can however only do so much as when the fry are free swimming its much more difficult to keep an eye on them especially with hungry tank mates...
our water is pretty hard too so they should be fine with yours :good: i dont see a drip acclimatisation that necessary tbh just do it the normal floating bag way but take your time. i do this with all my fish and they do great.
if your 100% coming for them ill seperate 4 from the group and get...
that date is fine and im much happier that you can collect them. how does £40 for the 4 sound? making them £10 each with a £2 reduction on each fish. that will save you £8 on your fuel bill :hey:
what car are you coming in by the way or is it concord......?
this is my concern mate. they will need quite a bit of water too to cover them and with 4 + water it will get costly. collection is the only option really.
the colours on fish depends alot on mood tbh, if they are happy then they will shine. give them a good diet and good tank maintenance and im sure they will colour up just as well as the pics provided.
young cichlids are very well known for having poor drab colouration that only gets better once...
just to add that these angels are feeding very well on mussel, prawn, bloodworm, brineshrimp, prima and any kind of dry foods i give them. they are not fussy eaters at all.
4 for sale and available now :good:
angels like many fish normally need a few batches of eggs before they get the idea of parenthood. i was quite lucky and mine got the hang of it pretty quick on about the 3rd time.
breeding fish in a com tank is not the way to do it im affraid because as much as the parents can defend their eggs...
there is a chat part to the forum that people can use to resolve any issues without bombarding someones topic but this is not an area for heated arguements and for people to get out of control though.
it can get annoying when this happens but remember peoples experiences with certain items...
