How big do they get those colors at? Mine are about 2 inches. I'm about 65/35 in favor of keeping them based on those pictures, but how long until they get those colors?

Mine are only an inch and a half and they're near those colors. Maybe your superman gravel is stressing them out

the colours on fish depends alot on mood tbh, if they are happy then they will shine. give them a good diet and good tank maintenance and im sure they will colour up just as well as the pics provided.

young cichlids are very well known for having poor drab colouration that only gets better once settled, happy and content. if you look after them im sure they will be fine

feed them a quality staple diet of dry products and the occasional treat of meaty foods to balance their diet a bit. mine also nibble on courgette and cucumber

What should I feed?

I feed my 3 "API Tropical premium pellets for community fish." I bopught a 1.6 oz. package for about $5.50 at Petsmart. I just add about 4 or 5 pellets to the tank each day. It's one of the only things they like although they will eat frozen blooworms & brine shrimp, but what fish doesn't? That stuff is like candy to them so don't over do it, the API Tropical pellets are a more complete diet. They almost never eat any flake food but they occasionally nip at the algae wafers.
