The tannins can leach out for over a year. I hear there is stuff available that kind of bleaches ( harmlessly ) the wood but this has to be used BEFORE you add the wood to the tank. Sorry but patience is the only answer that I know of right now.

Blue rams are fine in a community so long as you give them plenty of hiding places. They also need PERFECT water conditions as they are quite delicate little fish.

i thought that so i used 2 test kits, one being a new one. its the colour of the filter sponges that is concerning me too as they dont seem to have bacteria on them. they dont smell right either. to add a strange twist all my chiclids are still breeding and the babies are surviving too.
