    Fish Can't Swim Down

Most likely they are swallowing air when they eat. It just takes a bit for the air to pass. You can reduce this by sinking the food for them. Add your food to a cup of tank water swirl it a bit then dump it in the tank.

    My Characin & Cyprinid Team

Those would be a great addition. Are these fish all in one tank or different tanks? You have a few tank busters in there.

Plants prefer ammonia, but will use all products of the nitrogen cycle. Adding the filter will not affect the plants at all.

Need Advice On Soon To Be 65 Gallon Discus Tank

Post a pic if you can. The stocking seems fine, you can heavily plant from the start and as for the canister, just as long as the discus aren't being blown around the tank its fine. My recommendation on the heater is go with 2 submersibles each one about 200 watts. This way if one fails you'll...

    Stocking Suggestions

I wouldn't worry about honey gouramis breeding successfully in a community tank. Other options might be some of the "panchax" killies, rocket killies being my favorite, or possibly marble hatchetfish, 5-6 of either fish would be fine.

I start filters that way all the time. Kuhlis will be excellent with your rams. I'm sure they just dropped the t, and are actually cryptocorynes. They are very easy to keep. When first transplanted they go through a phase called crypt melt, where the plant seems to rot away. This is normal and...

The Latest With My Tank - Bandit Fry

Frozen baby brine shrimp or crushed flake will help supplement what the parents spit into the cloud of fry. To bad your on the other side of the Atlantic, I would love to get some fry. The parents are gorgeous.

    Bolivian Ram Breeding

Nitrates below 30 is good. Small frequent water changes won't cause any harm. Once the fry are free swimming they'll need to be fed, a turkey baster or syringe used to inject food close to them, works well. As long as the 10 gal is cycled and ready to go, you can move fry at any time.

    What Are These Rainbowfish?

The multi striped one could be common Australian rainbows. The dark one looks like a female or young turquoise rainbow to me.

    New To Neons!

A couple of tetras that I personally think compliment neons are, bloodfins, silver tips and red eye tetras. There are hundreds of different types though. Just be certain what you choose aren't fin nippers like serpaes or black/white skirts. Welcome to the addiction. It's almost as bad as cichlids.

I've kept them together in the past, but don't think I would again, unless it was at least a 10' tank. I'd go with the 6 discus and cories.

    Rainbow Forktails...!

The problem with Wikipedia is anyone can post any info they want. I could put they like temps up to 90, and unless someone changes it, everyone would read it as the truth. They will live just fine at higher temps, just not as long as they would at lower temps.

If you don't want to have to stock your tank around the ram, show your dad pics of bolivian rams, apistogrammas and laetacara species. One of these mixed with what I suggested earlier would be a good match. As for the anubias, yes they are very easy to keep, but tend to be slow growing.

    Rainbow Forktails...!

Zebra danios are temperate fish, and are happiest between 60-72 d F. At higher temps their metabolism is increased, therefore shortening their life span.

Rocket killies aren't the easiest. The loaches can be expensive.... So maybe something like this instead, 8-10 green neons 6-8 kuhli loaches 3 golden wonder killies, 1m/2f All of these are under $4 each at petsmart or petco. You may have to go to a smaller lfs for the green neons though.

    Anti Bacterial Fish Food

They should slim down within an hour or two, unless they are a gravid female.
  38. thereverendturtle

Think Im Gonna Be A Daddy ! Now What?!

You can often get them to spawn by doing a 50-80% water change, with water that's about 5-10 d F colder than the current temp. Simulates the rainy season.

    Fat Guppy?!

Got to agree, he looks like he's just eating a little more than he should. Fasting one day a week, will help him clear his gut.
