    New Idea

A lot of African cichlids are sold by scientific names L. fullerborni is a Malawian Mbuna. The L is for Labeotropheus. Haps are a generic term for many of the free swimming and sand dwelling Malawi cichlids. At your lfs some of the more common Haps will be blue dolphin cichlids, electric blue...

    Question About Power Heads

Your silver dollars will like the flow as well. Circulation mode gives the best flow, as its large gph, but it spreads out like a cone, instead of just a straight jet. In the 55's I would use either the 600 or the 900. 2 1200's in your 220 would be ideal. It's amazing how much more "natural"...

    30g Cichlid Stocking

Generally I don't recommend keeping more than one species of apistogramma to a tank. It can be done, but you have to be careful not to mix species that are closely related, as they may hybridize. In a 30 gallon I would do something like this.... 1- trio Apistogramma sp. your choice. 1- pair of...

    Cichlid Tank

I think that if you have lots of rock and wood in the tank, all 3 would be good as tank mates. They all typically stay under 4", so overstocking won't be an issue. You might consider adding some target fish, such as Mexican tetras or columbian tetras. A group of 6-8 would help make the cichlids...

    Cichlid Tank

With a convict and a jewel, I'd be inclined to go with a neetroplus, don't know if I spelled that right. Roughly the same size, with a similar attitude.

    Identification Please ?

Well, since it has a deformed face, it might make it easier to house other fish with it. What size aquarium is it? There are some Central American cichlids that might do well, firemouths and sajica spring to mind.

    Coridoras Albino

First, its not algae, its fungus. Second, use Methylene blue or arciflavine to keep the fungus from attacking the eggs. Third, if your pair is young, its possible the eggs were infertile to begin with. If they keep turning white give the fish some time to mature. Good luck.

    Eheim Wave 75g New Set-up

Start a photo log in the pictures section. I have the feeling this will be an awesome tank. As for your heaters, they should do the job just fine. I use 2 200 watts on my 100 plus 30 in the sump, without any issues. The rams will mix quite nicely. Good luck and keep us posted.

    New Idea

Make sure you have rocks stacked about 3/4 of the way up and to about 6" of the front pane. This should give enough hiding places for fish that need to get away. Like minnnt said, leave out the severum, its a South American cichlid and just isn't compatible with the Malawians. I also would not...

Will These Fish Happily Live Together?

Depends on your tank size and scape. If you do get them all, only get males of the peacocks as they will hybridize muddying up the blood lines. The only ones that concern me are the labs, as Mbuna can be aggressive, and peacocks can't handle it.

Zebra Danios Chasing Tetras And Each Other

The danios are chasing, because that's what they do. They do however as previously stated need to be in larger groups of 6+, as do your neons. Schooling fish will sometimes get aggressive when kept in insufficient numbers and chase everything else in the tank out of fear. It's kind of a "well...

    Crystal Glass

Are you talking about actual crystal, or starfire glass. Starfire is said to be "crystal clear", because they use less iron in making it. If that's it people usually get it on larger tanks, because regular glass has a green tint to it that starfire doesn't, making the inside of the tank clearer...

Jack Dempsey And Texas Cyclid Breeding?

It might be possible, but why would you want to intentionally create a hybrid cichlid? Both of those cichlids are beautiful as they are. I would suggest either breeding one species or the other. Leave the hybrids to the Asian breeders.

    Apistogramma Babies

Keep the two small ones to increase the harem, move on the rest. If you're not ready to part ways, move them to a 10-20 gallon aquarium for further growth.

    Does Temperature Determine What Sex

I think the study was more on extremely warmer water, probably 30-34C. It makes sense to me. If you look at apistos bred in Asia, there are usually way more males in a shipment than females. Males sale better than females.

    Does Temperature Determine What Sex

Yes, you can choose the sex of kribs, by changing the pH. 7.0 will give you a roughly 50/50 split. Go up and you get more males, go down more females. It might be the other way around, but it works.

Odessa Barb Or Zebra Danio's - What To Keep

Odessa Barb Or Zebra Danio's - What To Keep

If you don't already bump the numbers of your barbs and danios to 6 each. As for a mid water dweller, centerpiece, you could try a paradise fish. Though some tend to be very aggressive. Lowering your water temp to about 72-74 d. F would be best for the fish you have. They are all temperate...

What Can I Use A Normal Filter In A 10 Gallon Tank With Fry?

Use your small filter and add an air powered sponge filter. Cycle the filter for the ten on your larger tank, then when your fish are large enough, swap the small powerfilter for the bigger one. What type of fry are they?

    Disinfecting Tank After Sick Fish

Bleach is safe to use, I've used it several times in the past. In fact that is how you recharge purigen. If you do use bleach, just soak whatever you've used it on, in tap water and an overdose of dechlorinator. Rinse them well and if it still has a bleach smell, soak and dechlorinate again.

    Upgrading My Tank Equipment
